If we were to bring someone in as additional cover for Lucas who would it be?

Think we need to wait to see how we cope without Lucas first. Spearing although not spectacular has never let the team down when ever he has played. He's constantly harrassing opposition and not giving them a minutes rest. He may not be the best technically but has the right attitude. I think he's also more of a goal threat than Lucas, seems do have a half decent strike on him.

Depends if you want temporary cover or another player who will push for the first team. Yann M'Vila has impressed me, I think he would do a very good job for you lot, Keita a shorter term option but still good enough.

Instead of looking at someone else, perhaps we should be looking within the club - perhaps Conor Coady? Considering Gerrard and Lucas are both out, it's him and Spearing that can play that position and if he was given a short run out we could see whether he's got whats needed to make it or not.

I honestly can't see Spearing doing anything other than a sound job - he's determination is what has kept him at this level and I think he will take an opportunity like this and grab it with both hands.

Is there actually any news on Gerrard at the moment? I haven't heard anything for ages - how long does an infection take to clear up!!?

Having thought about it, the recall of Shelvey suggests to me that Kenny is thinking of deploying Henderson centrally and Shelvey playing in the position Henderson has been playing in. At least that way, Spearing doesn't have to take sole responsibility and can be used as required.

Lucas has shown amazing amounts of stamina in covering the ground in matches and looking almost as fresh on 80 minutes as he did at kickoff. Perhaps the thinking is that we don't have one player who has that huge amount of stamina to replace him, and that around the hour mark, Kenny will be replacing the DCM to keep the energy levels up...

I thought about Beckham, but not as a DCM but a right winger, think of the precise balls put on carrolls head every time would be amazing. However he is too old and remains loyal to utd unlike some other players we wont mention.

Sorry for this article, i seem to have let my love of Ever Banega as a player get in the way again......lol

Think he would be a great addition, but agree that an out and out striker is more what we need for the long term...

Certainly wouldnt want banega to replace Lucas, but more to compliment our options.....

Could a loan deal be the way to go?

Even if Beckham was about 7 years younger and had a yard more pace, he'd never play for Liverpool.

Good, because I wouldn't want the useless, thick, inarticulate s..te anywhere near this club. What a tool.

Benega would be great alongside Lucas, not as his replacement.

I would love Spearing to get a run of games. It's the only way he'll keep developing now is to be given a chance <ok>

How about taking John Obi Mikel off our hands? We'll give you a good deal for £20m lads?

Tbh, I'd rather have Essien in his current condition.

Actually, it's a bit weird that him and Lucas have almost the same injury.
