Ref has had a shocker for both sides. We have been very very poor though. Going to have to dig deep again - work for everyone to do. I don’t believe this is purely down to missing Nunez! We have been really flimsy and to be honest I think they are exposing our fullbacks being out of position - which has been a major weakness of ours.
I actually don’t think we’ve been that bad other than a couple of passes. We’ve knocked the ball around ok, and created a couple of decent chances, you’d expect Sainz to score the one that he hits against the post. Sometimes you have to just say the opposition have played better and been very clinical. They’ve been playing this system for a couple of years now and look very settled. The one touch passes and movement has been good in midfield, they’ve taken their chances well, nothing Long could do about the last 2 goals. Doak is a real livewire. Ref has been bad for both teams
Sorry Suffolk, I have to disagree - in that I think both can be true - we have been really poor in terms of defensive shape, tracking runners and allowing a counterattacking approach. So we might still look pretty going forward, but it’s pointless if it leaves gaping holes for them to exploit when they win the ball back. That doesn’t take away from them being really clinical, but we have absolutely gifted them a way to play which exploits our weaknesses and serves their strengths. All of that would have been avoided if Long had made a routing save with his foot at the near post. Also, while the third goal is far from his fault alone, Long really should be putting a long range save like that out for a corner, it is always really dangerous to parry it back to the opposition wide player, especially when the wide players have been so strong. As you say, Doyle has been really struggling. And we know from last match that Fisher can be dragged out of position.
