The standard of writing and acting, particularly in the first five series, is unsurpassed. It’s a masterpiece of British TV. It depicts a London that has now sadly vanished.
We had some really good comedy shows - Porridge, the two Ronnies , Morcombe & Wise etc etc I can’t stand yank humour !
The godfather of British Comedy was Spike Milligan - perhaps the funniest man to ever live. His work is never repeated on TV - The Q series was genius. Peter Cook was a 2nd then Stephen Fry I am afraid their like is gone
On Friday went to see Juno and the Paycock. It was set in 1922 during the Irish Civil War. Fantastic play beautifully written and acted. Very poignant but also very funny. I recommend it.
