Surprised Maddison starts today though, both he and Bentancur were really good on Thursday but I thought Bissouma and Sarr would’ve gotten the nod today out of freshness.

Solanke needs to step up big time now though, all round game has been decent but goals are a striker’s currency. Three tap-ins and a penalty between our two senior strikers needs improving on, especially without Sonny.

Things are so bad for Werner now that an academy
kid is favoured over him in a PL starting XI.

 

Unfortunately yes, but you cannot say he hasn't been given a chance...

 

As it should be, and when Son and Odobert are fit he’ll be out of the squad with a bit of luck.

To be fair, I think that is a bigger reflection on Moore's progress than it is Werner. The young boy has done very well.

Werner still has a chance to be useful from the bench if he makes a positive impact. Maybe less pressure will help.

With the new South Korean connection arriving in January too though, Werner may well be having his Soldado > Kane moment very soon.

 

If Spurs reach League cup R5, the chances of
repeatedly drawing top 6 PL opposition is high.
Only 3 EL group games now where he could be guaranteed a start.
No guarantees whatsoever for FA cup R3/R4 opponents.

There appears to be no way back now for Werner
other than a Johnson-esque run of form.

 

I tend to agree with you on that.

It would be bloody ironic if Werner came on and scored a 90th minute winner but I suspect that's not in the script for him unfortunately...

 

That would speak volumes of the performance of
the Spurs attack and/or Palace defence, no ??
