Primarily because of Wolves' fixtures, I would suggest. I'm still of the view that they're in a totally false position. I suppose we'll find out whether that's correct or not over the next two months.

We only picked up 25 points two years ago, and yet we're already seven points down on that pathetic total this time (if you replace Leeds with Ipswich in the comparison).

From these next six fixtures, we picked up just three points in total (a win vs Chelsea at home) last time. So an opportunity for improvement.

You’re predicting we will score 3 goals? Where are they coming from?!

He will be gone if we don't get a win out of Everton or Wolves.

We will be well and truly ****ed. That’s 1 point in 11 games, we would need to average around 1.5 points per game for the rest of the season to stand a chance. We’re ****ed already really. Totally ****ing ****ed big time. Top 6 form needed and that’s not happening.

I think it is not taking momentum down with us and ensure we do not go down with a broken squad like we did last timr

It didn’t seem to problem last year, though we did have a bit of a clear out.

Im just annoyed we didn’t throw everything at staying up. Feels like we haven’t really tried and now it’s realistically too late.

I think the only way we could’ve stayed up was to sack Martin before the season started, which was never going to happen. As others have said if Leicester stay up a large part of that would be the fortune of having someone poach Maresca and not having him in charge of a weak squad

We’ve spent, what, £100m+? Can’t really say we haven’t really tried with that. The thing it really shows is just how massive the gap between the prem and the championship is. Even the **** PL teams are miles ahead of anything in the Championship

They could have had a shortlist, given it 5-6 games and then made a decision.

Just like 22/23 they spent money but didn’t buy a goal scorer. If we can buy ramshackle we could have bought a striker. I would have rather gone this season with mccarthy in goal and a decent striker.

My complaint is how we, at least so far, have wasted our two PL loan slots.

Hopefully I'm proved wrong - and there's still a very long time for that to happen - but at the moment it feels like we've really missed an opportunity there.

Roll up for more predictions with Lincs. The seer of fear, the augur of slaughter, the medium of tedium.

Everton home 0-0, the clappers will be convinced we've turned a corner and that Martin has finally worked out how to organise a defence.

Wolves away 2-1. Saints go 1-0 up in the 10th minute before goals just before half time and on the 80th minute.

Liverpool home- 5-0. A good old fashioned trouncing. The crowd finally starts to turn.

Brighton away- 3-0 Martins last throw of the dice, a hard fought game sees us see in 3 on the counter. Martin binned the following day.

Chelsea home- 3-0. No manager in place sees Saints lose a walk in the park game for Chelsea

Villa away- 2-0 to Villa at half time sees them smelling blood in the water. Remembering when we turned them over when we were a good team, Villa seek their revenge. Finishes 5-0.

    1 point.

I mean they did buy Archer who has scored a couple. Strikers are notoriously hard to find/buy, especially if you are shopping in the below £30m category like we are.

I agree about Martin and there is almost certainly managers out there better suited to keeping this squad up, maybe even keeping them up if we’d made a change earlier. But you only need to look at this side on paper and compare it to every other team to know we have a poor squad in comparison

Interesting thought. I actually think that Ramsdale signing might be helping keep Martin in a job. If we'd had McCarthy or Bazunu in goal I suspect we'd have conceded more goals and been on the end of some proper pastings by now, which might have done for him.

    Problem is our recruitment.. AGAIN.

Ramsdale, Archer, THB, Fernandes and Downes are (arguably) good signings.

All the others have been complete ****e. We really needed a DM to help Downes out. In the champ he is a one man midfield. But he can’t do that here.

5 of our new signings were playing for the u21s ffs. What a waste of money.

Lesley was awful against Bournemouth but is the exact type of player we need to help Downes. So I guess to try and be positive - we did try. Just messed it up again.
Not even worth talking about the striker department as it’s a **** show yet again.
Expecting young archer to score all our goals is madness.

on top of this we have an insane manager

Bazunu yes definitely. McCarthy might have let a few more in but he’s not terrible.

My point was really that we made a coup signing him, so we can draw an experienced PL player when needed. I’m glad we have ramsdale but lack of goals will see us relegated again. It was the same in 22/23.

Sugawara is alright, but he plays where our best player is, so wasn’t a crucial signing.

I don’t think recruitment has been that bad, all of the failings in the PL has been down to management in my view.

Only really **** signing this season has been Diaz at this stage. Players like Cornet and Ugochukwu it’s too early to really know but they are heading towards **** category if they don’t play. Wood and Edwards were clearly bought for the future, and at £6m or whatever it was for the pair of them, who cares. The ones you’ve listed have been alright in the main, probably add Sugawara to that list as well as Lallana and Taylor.

50% hit rate on recruitment is about average, and I think the signs are there that we will achieve that. The issue was how poor the rest of the squad was, can’t fix it all in one window. We sold £180m worth of players a little over a year ago, and two of our experienced players left on frees the summer just gone. Have to be exceptional in the recruitment department to sort that out in one window

One of the things PP said to me today was that they never expected to have KWP this season, which is why Yuki was signed.

We have been saying that for the last three or four games surely. Somehow I don't think that will happen !!!
