Keep saying don’t get carried away, this is Sunderland. But it’s hard to deny there is a feeling around the stadium that we could be watching something potentially special here. After a tough few games it was nice to see us being the hammer rather than the nail. Oxford were the least threatening team I’ve seen at the SOL for a while but maybe that takes away from how good Sunderland are at the moment. Meptham - a complete centre half. Scary the thought of the PL if Bournemouth don’t think he’s good enough for them. Cirkin - becoming a really well rounded full back. Love watching him. Neil - perfect opponent for him. Second half tremendous. Needs to do it against better teams. Jobe - my MOTM. Possibly our best player. Possibly our most important. Incredible improvement. Obviously results went our way but let’s focus on ourselves, it’s a long long season but it’s getting hard to not start believing. I’ve never felt that stadium so in line with the club as I did today. Maybe just maybe this could be our time.
Just in from the match, it was a strange one, more like a training game than a competitive one. Great performances all round but Jobe for me stood out as my MotM. Rigg deserves a mention as he was excellent in both attack and breaking their play, as was Dan Neill. Oxford may be poor, but take nothing away from this performance, they were only poor because we completely controlled the game.

Are they POOR I think they have lost one game in Eight or we are a little bit better than we think - five points clear at this stage indicates we might be underestimating what we have on our hands .
I should have said we made them look poor. It was strange though, at times it didn't look like they wanted to compete, they couldn't get anywhere near us and apart from 10 minutes in the second half their press was non existent.
Interestingly when I got back to the car the Radio 5 commentator at our match was waxing lyrically about us. He said we were the best team he had seen in the Championship so far. Very early days I know but nice to hear
Had a busy day in the home city. 4 visits before I coule go the match. But lovely to see family (and drink so much tea that the lads in the stadium toilet though I had sunk 10 pints.) I am now on my 3rd malt. The match itself was an example of a team being im complete control. Thought we were class. There were no.average performances. I said in the summer that Jobe would be kuch better physically. Bloody hell he is on a level above what ai thouht. He was unreal today. In the flesh he looks so domimant, reminds me of Viera. In amongst a great team performance Hume was class imo. Stepping in ane controlling the midfield space when others pushed on. ONien is at a great level now. Isidors strike waa unreal. What a technique. Genius. Rigg is a genius. I though Paddy was class today, but interested to read others views as I thimk I have a bias. All in all just a brilliant team performance. No lad was less than 100%
The transformation of jobe btw, absolute quality. Didn’t think he was mobile enough to do what he’s doing. I would have sold him in the summer because I didn’t see him fitting in buzzing to be proved wrong
So they should tbh. He was immense today. I know Jude went to Dortmund as a bit of a stepping stone (with respect) but I reckon he (Jobe) will miss that out and go straight to an elite team. What do you think he will do from a Scouting point of view?
Great thread RTB, loved reading through tonight. Lovely comments lads. Looking forward to watching the full match tomorrow on my return home. Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the lads
He has the world at his feet, and I think he wants to play in the PL with us - if he plays a season with us in the PL n does well then we will get some silly offers for him I know a united scout was there today, I expect them to come in for Jobe n Rigg at some point. He said that United were raging that they missed out on Jude n sounds like they don't want to miss out on Jobe Jobe loves it at the club and feels it's the right club for him at the minute. I have zero concerns about him n Rigg leaving in Jan
Your mate at Utd didn't scout Anthony did he? (only joking ) I reckon we get next season out of them both regardless of promotion or not. After that it's big money.
