City have Robertson and Colwill both selected for the Championship Team of the week. Ex loanee Karlan Grant also in there.
Good comeback by Wednesday - cracking strike to win it. Some ex City interest - Pack, Paterson & Ugbo all off the bench. Murphy as anonymous as he was at CCS
I had conflicting views on the result. A couple weeks back I'd have wanted the Wendies to win to keep Portsmouth down with us. After the last few results, I've started looking up (dangerous, I know) so would have been OK with a Portsmouth win. Probably a draw would have been best for us.
Not sure about that remote. We're still at the stage when we need to see at least 3 other teams lose the plot and struggle. I doubt the Wendies are going to trouble the top boys this season and mid table would be a good outcome for them. As far as looking up instead of down is concerned, I'm with you on that. It was a miserable start to the season as much as for the style of play as the dire results. Things seemed to have changed big time on both fronts. Today against Brom will be a big test as much for the way we play as much as the result - a decent performance would do me. If we come back with anything more than that it'll be a big bonus - all 3 points would be a massive achievement given where we were a few weeks back.
Just saying - the oxygen sucker Ugbo came on as sub for the Wendies - and didn't score again. No league goals this season. £2m -
As I said a few days ago, my glass is now slightly more than half full. I'm looking at the teams that we are a win or so away from catching as much as I am the 3 teams we need to pull away from. With regards today, a continuation of the style of play we've seen since Riza's interim appointment (so long as he learns from the Brizzle mistake I'll forgive him), with chances created again, like you I'll be happy. However, if they do that, I can see some sort of result coming our way. If they give us a performance I can see us getting at least a point which would be a big achievement. To be fair, I would be happy with a slightly more conservative approach. A more defensive CM next to Robertson or Turnbull with the other coming off the bench would be acceptable. Siopis and Robertson to start, Rino and Turnbull off the bench? Just a little concerned that 3 games in 8 days with the same starters could tell.
Injuries/fitness not withstanding, I'd stick to the same starting 11. They've a week off before the Norwich game.
Just been having a squiz at the table. Some interesting stats in there. Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds way out there on goal difference. Plenty for, not many against, all with a positive double figure goal difference, 5 better than any other team in the division. As expected, they are the top 3. Outside that its a mixed bag. Some teams tight at the back but struggling to score, others scoring, but shipping goals as well. Burnley have conceded the least with 5, Blades in 5th spot are next on 6, but having only scored 12. Only 2 teams have scored less than 11. The team with the least goals, 8, are the swans, but they have only conceded 7, the third least. So, 11 games in, the table taking shape and different teams with different problems to solve. Its interesting that Riza has shored up our defence at the same time as resolving the goal scoring issue. Some achievement that.
Unsurprisingly after that start to the season, no cash out on offer...................YET........ please log in to view this image
