New additions to the A-League, Auckland FC, played their first match this morning - at home against Brisbane. The buggers won 2-0 and actually looked quite impressive - 24k+ crowd too, which is also quite impressive for the A-League
Yes - but it's looking likely that they'll enter administration now - which will mean: *An immediate 15 point deduction, which at the moment would see them on -6 points at the bottom League 1, 12 points behind second bottom team Dumbarton. * A 5 point deduction to be applied at the start of next season, assuming that they make it out of administration. * The probable immediate cancellation of player loan agreements - meaning the loss of four players straight away, making relegation all the more likely. There but for the grace of rich benefactors go quite a few Scottish clubs - I'm just hoping that Ross County's owner doesn't drop down dead. If he does, they'll be the next to go.

A well - it wasn't to be. After going down to ten men in the 91st minute, they conceded in the 96th minute to lose 2-3. Great effort though, given their lowly status. Edit: the player sent off was the young lad with cancer.
