What has happened to the 'political thread'? Can't find it anywhere.

The current government is becoming more comical as the days pass by. No one is more comical than their leader. Today he defined 'working people' as those people who work but have no assets. So anyone who works and who has no assets but whose salary is under the personal allowance (20% band) will not see any tax increases (well this year but see below), but those who work and have no assets but whose salary is on or above the personal allowance band will (as Personal Allowances are being frozen).
One can imagine the presentation of this to the Cabinet must have been very amusing. A Venn Diagram where the first bubble is everyone in the UK, then a smaller bubble within that is all workers, then carve out of that bubble those who have no assets, then carve out of that bubble those who earn below the personal allowance band and are therefore not subject to any income tax. The final bubble is going to be fairly small. And come back next year and that bubble will get smaller as people get salary increases.

The Labour Party appear ridiculous. I can feel an IMF Loan coming on.

Yes very impressive. Surely will go County Hurdle route? Fiddling Dan likes the race - has won it 4 times. Currently rated 118 so even if he goes up 20lb for that performance he’s got to be well in. Shelling peas for a fiddler like Skelton.

You've become a politician Ron, you haven't answered the question.

OK if it's not humorous I'll put something I feel like saying on the daily thread. Where's better?

Damn good riddance too. Most politicians nowadays are out for themselves and don't give a fig about upholding the constitution of their country, and are probably failed businessmen too? It is a shame Bustino finds it necessary to stick the political stuff on the DRT, but so be it. Politics in the UK, Germany (and the EU itself, for that matter) are quite boring. No comment on the USA and its mad as a hatter fascist former president. Best to enjoy life as best as one can. It's the young kids I really feel very sad for. What sort of life are so many of us leaving them? Absolutely tragic.
I do apologise for this lousy rambling post, certainly could have tried to be more erudite.:(

I agree with most of what you say but it doesn't mean you shouldn't talk about it.

I recall setting up a Politics thread ages ago but it got merged into the Discuss Anything, and eventually brought that down. That was in the days when my aim was to develop the horse racing forum into a wide ranging forum for horse racing enthusiasts. We seemed to have a workable compromise with the Other Sports and Discuss Anything but, as experienced wherever you go, politics discussion is an oxymoron
