I've seen media pundits saying they think Trent is the most likely of the three to stay, but I tend to agree with you - I think he's looking to move.
I do wonder why sometimes these things take any time at all. It's really about when the pay rise is given imo. Contracts are not radically different so it's 2 years or 1? '220k a week or 180k? Something on image rights that is probably no different to last time. The only real sticking points should be the length of contract for our oaps.
I think personally he's lost touch with the regular people. Once a person is talking about trophies and such in the second half of his career he is in one fell swoop dissing the club and ignoring everything else of intrinsic value about the relationship with fans. Go take the money. Go leave the club for nothing. Mcmanaman did it. He's never been forgiven. He was given a bit of a role but I have not seen any warmth to him. Owen did it amd then committed the worse sin of all and no matter what else you won't see him lining up in a legends shirt. These guys will never be held in esteem imo. I'd honestly walk past them and good look to them if they were on fire. Lol never mind hero worship. Others would get great time off the fans and that. Is it important to multi millionaires? Probably not.
Too many variables to be so simplistic. Not least that the players will want to maximise their earnings and if the can leverage any interest from elsewhere for as long as possible, they will.
Yeah but the basics of the contract itself won't be radically different to last time so thry can dance about each other all the like but a time comes to say I want x for y period or we offer you x for y period. After that the rest is just paperwork to be checked.
The one thing that doesn't sit right is our best players leaving on a free. It's still speculation but I'd like to think that Trent, of all people because of him being local and knowing in what regard he's held by the fans, wouldn't let the club and fans down in this way. Very few players who have the adoration of the fans, leave and have it look like a good decision. Most fade into obscurity.
He's the one who talked about only winning trophies in the first half of career. If he wants to go then go. Don't make excuses based on fsg and ambition as they've never been that ambitious. We got world class playpers out of a barca fee and cl money and did well. They've never pushed us on from there, just enough each year to spend our own money. Trent cannot use what was the same when he signed his last deal as an excuse now. He should be honest about wanting to go.
In other news people are guessing what vvd wants now tjst he's admitted hmtalks are underway. 2 years at 220k a week as today. I'd pay it. I'd not even blink at his age and current status for 2 years more.
I'd prefer him to stay but as I say, the only aspect of it that bothers me if he does decide to go is leaving on a free transfer. Lots of players do it and most I have no issue with, it's the ones who you think should respect the club more for what it has done for them, that don't sit right.
Guehi wants to join Liverpool https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-guehi-tells-friends-join-crystal-palace-newcastle-failed
Him leaving on a free is on the club hierarchy who failed to make decisions after ward sulked off. The fact both Edwards and ward are now back as glorified retirees given a global It's down to fsg and their failure to appoint senior executives after Edwards left and self promoted ward who should not have had the job at all. Now we have Edwards appointing his bestie to the job and thry went the whole summer without doing thr contracts. Sorry Mr slot but you don't get to decide how much money if any lfc make on those 3. We sell them or we get new contracts by august 15. But no and here we are. Imo vvd might sign. I think salah will look for thr same 2 years again and is a dodgy one. I really think trent will piss all over his own legacy and chase easy medals and lose his legend status.
Contract negotiations are a two way process though. Agents will be knocking doors down to start the talks. Surely they wouldn't be accepting the silent treatment on behalf of their clients. As always, we don't know what's gone on unless and until it's revealed at some point.
Speculation, your honour. My own speculation, as I've said before, is that Trent decided a while back he was going to leave and isn't really interested in negotiating.
Only the last part. The club have let it be known when hiring new staff what the score was and we all saw smacked arsenal being appointed. Fsg and that so called director should have handled these contracts for key assets. They did not
I think all three will sign new deals but if they don't, they don't. None of them owe the club anything so good luck to them.
I understand what you mean by this but I do think that, for the three in question, this club has been the major factor in making them what they are today, particularly Trent and for that reason I'd like to think (rather than I expect) that they would make sure the club got some money when they leave. I think that would show respect. As I've said previously, others have left for free and it hasn't bothered me but I feel differently with these three.
