Doubters will doubt. I can be one sometimes but cannot argue with the results. I do doubt that we have the squad to sustain this but I’ll take it! Any result against Arsenal will be ok, even a loss leaves us above them and a couple of points off the top. But a win changes everything…..bring it on…..
Decent away win, a bit sloppy at times but they’re a half decent team and we created plenty too - both goalkeepers had good games. For all the praise Arsenal have been getting they really haven’t started this season well, add the absentees in there and the confidence we’re playing with and we have a really good opportunity to get a win and put an early meaningful gap between us.
Maybe. Right now 24th is on 3 points and 8th is on 7. Nobody can be sure where anyone is until most games wash out as nobody should be arsed to study which teams have played which game level by now. For example rb leipzig hae now lost all 3 games. I don't really care why or how. Bayern have lost 2 of 3. Only time will tell what's enough or not based on competitiveness and who decides to focus on other things but I do think there's a good chance we already have enough points to be in that plan off.
To me it just felt like we got drawn into how poor leipzig were and we became equally sloppy so I'm not too worried. Sometimes performances tend to mirror like that so it's not as simple as saying a better team would've punished us. On Monday night club the pundits were comparing styles between klopp and slot, and how with Klopp we'd jump from 1st to 4th, 5th or 6th gear whereas with slot it's more like shifting up gears and finally shifting into 6th when we have to, which is bit more like how Man City play.
Why use language like that? It's not deluded to enjoy the moment, whilst being aware that there are sterner tests ahead.
I've been enjoying games this season so much more since I stopped coming here so much. Also get to just switch off and do something else after the game. This place can suck the life out of you. And it's comments like the one you highlighted that do it; people stating things like they're factual rather than just their opinion or using insulting terminology. Just enjoy the game ffs
Or more. Vvd.header, nunez header. Both good saves. Gakpo missed one wide. Macca hit the bar. Great move. Salah firing his usual shot over the bar. Konate chance too. I mean in fairness we didn't sit on that lead after getting it. We dominated up to ht and then really we got told to stop imo. The subs really affected rhythm so imo that's the only real reason they got at us.
Just as a little aside - it was good seeing a referee not buying into all the falling over. On the other hand, by taking that approach, he waved away the genuine foul on Nunez which was absolutely a penalty. And therein lies the problem of sticking to a 'philosophy' and ignoring what's actually happening.
Bar be booked.one of ours for nothing and waved off two real pens sure why not. It's always easier when you win the game to shrug at a really premier league ref level performance like that.
I like coming on here after a game for a while (unless we've lost, of course). Some things annoy me, but then I'm sure I'm annoying to others in return. What I can't do is leave the telly on after a game - unless there's some controversy that I want some light shed upon. All the talk does my head in, and I usually turn it off straight after. I remember years ago going straight out after a game and forgetting to turn the telly off, came back about an hour and a half later and they were still going on about it. What a waste of time and money - even in the pub with a load of footy fans the conversations turn to something else after a few minutes. Not to mention commentators - they had trouble with the mics from the ground last night for a while - it was so much better not having to listen to Darren Fletcher droning on.
Thought he seemed card happy at the beginning, there were three yellows in the first 20 minutes or so, then he suddenly went the other way and just let everything go.
Couldn't agree more! They apologised for the troubles they were having, I left I said they should be apologising for fixing them If love a red button option to remove commentary. I won't mute the TV because I want to hear the crowd. I loved it in the pandemic too when we could hear the players. As for coming in here after a game, I think it's the worst time to visit now. Doesn't matter if we win, lose play well, etc, there will be plenty of moaning and fault picking on here. You've all heard me say it for years; some posters on here would still mean if we win 10-0! (They're entitled to do that too)
The ideal scenario for me is crowd noise/no comms. I think Prime do that, can't remember, I've only managed to use it once and it was great for taking in the atmosphere without the inane chatter.
I thought the same thing exactly. Sometimes a commentary is useful if you can't make out - or don't know - who some players are, or if an incident is unclear and they have some info that we don't. What I can't stand is them talking amongst themselves like they're in a pub, constantly offering opinions that I have no interest in, and the endless stream of trivial stats telling me that this is the youngest team since the last one, or this is the first time a thing has happened since the last time the thing happened. If they would just describe the action as it happens, in simple terms, I'd be ok with it.
In contrast, listening to a match on the radio can be really exciting. They concentrate on the action and seem more aware that those listening want the details and the enthusiasm without the daft banter.
Yes, that's what I was thinking when I wrote it. A more descriptive type of commentary rather than an opinion-riddled narrative. At the beginnings of games they often prattle on for 4 or 5 minutes with unnecessary background information or a little personal banter and hardly refer to the action unless something major happens. It's like listening to the annoying big-mouth in the pub who just won't shut up.
I agree. Radio commentry is far far better. You've usually a team of 2 rotating after 20mins and one to come in in breaks of play to comment. This constant pissing and moaning by neville or anyone else needs to end. Thry really should get back to commentator does his job and invites in the "expert" to make an assembly of the things thst are noteworthy. I think having two fans bantering would be far cheaper for sky to employ than watching this stuff at 2 or 3 mil a year before expenses for neville.
I agree. Often when sky (in my case Now TV) is imo not worth paying for I listen to 5live instead. I was seeing you guys moaning about Neville on Sunday while blissfully listening to 5live
