Personally and generally, I abhor the twat, so I am probably biased, but on this particular occasion, its the difference in the public utterances that hits home. Hoy is literally facing death in the short term and a terrible debilitating and life-reducing illness to his wife, leaving two young kids. Despite that, his brief is the epitomy of brave and selfless acceptance. Clarkson, a man who has abused his body for 60 years and has lampooned illness and injury to others, has had a minor heart procedure and is currently fine, but as per usual is milking it in the media. But as I say, I'm biased!!
I was just checking out the "Hidden London" tours (did one a few years back, was interesting). Anyway, noticed that Aldwych was one of them. Thought to myself 'not worth it as I remember using the station not that long ago'. So I checked out when it closed and it was 1994. So I confirmed my earlier thought. It was closed in 1994 which isn't that long ago. Then I thought, 'hang on, that was 30 years ago'. Oh dear. It was 30 years ago.

Not to demean Bill Nick in any way - he is a Spurs God in my eyes... but he learnt his trade both as a player and then coach under Arthur Rowe. The 'Push & Run' years of success 1952-54 with Rowe in many ways equally determined the style of football that the club would become associated with.

My Dad introduce me to Arthur Rowe at the short lived football museum sometime in the early 70s , I had no clue who he was but the Old man and him spent a good few mins reminiscing
Me too, on my 9th birthday. My old man was in awe of the great man. He was 12 when Spurs won their first title and didn't miss a home game.
RIP Ron Ely (whose death has just been announced). To those of us in our 60s and above, he was Tarzan (during the school holidays, at least). He dated Diane Cannon, Britt Eklund, Barbara Bouchet and Usee'er Undress (amongst many others), before marrying a Miss USA contestant 30 years his junior. Aaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh.....aaaaarrrrrrggghh!....aaaarrrgh!

Also to be found in a little seen early superhero project called Doc Savage. I think it was really ahead of it's time and if had been later when Marvel had rejuvenated the genre would have been far better received.
