Was like watching us at home last season in the second half, trying to defend a one goal lead and then drawing 1-1 anyway. The Walter out/Rosenior in brigade should be happy!
He flapped at one cross which was definitely poor. Bar that he didn't have that much to do or put a foot wrong. But don't let that stop you from making yourself look at tit will you
Think it’s harsh to say that about offensively, they’re still a very high quality side individual wise. If Puerta puts that header back across goal it’s 2-0 and we are cruising
Fair result for me, we were better first half, second half we got deeper and deeper and couldn't beat their press. Drameh was excellent tonight, and Hughes has made such a difference. Puerta getting better with fitness and looks a real player, but we seem to lose our way as he runs out of steam. Deserved a point tonight, as we did against Sunderland, but alls not fair in footie. Like others here I wouldn't mind seeing Puerta/ Zambrano pairing in midfield.
Some positives there but we could've played til midnight without even looking like scoring in that second half. Going forward we look like strangers, as if no one quite knows what the others will do, resulting in invariably ****ing up the final pass. We're relying on someone coming up with a worldy or a bit of individual magic or (as tonight) getting a lucky deflection. We can't keep a clean sheet so we have to score at least twice to get a win, how many times do you think we'll manage to do that?
Goal song in Turkey is a pretty interesting case actually and might be beneficial for us too. It has multiple impacts, especially last Icardi case had a huge effect on creating a fan base. As usual it was Galatasaray introduced "I will survive" for last 3 decades ago which was immediate success, then Fener tried couple of songs to match them. To be honest, "Cunku Fenerbahceliyiz (Because we are Fenerbahce fans)" was very good and much much better than current one, but then they switch to "Freed from desire" which is also title celebration song for Galatasaray, so they usually make fun of them after winning titles. Meanwhile Besiktas always celebrates with announce and then traditional "Black-White-Champion Besiktas" chants, usually without song. In 2018, Galatasaray switched to special song for strikers, starting with Gomis (because he put a video of himself enjoying with that song, completely organic) which became number 1 song in country thanks to him scoring 29 goals in 34 games, singer was a teenage idol like Taylor Swift so Gomis became a favorite of children especially girls, then followed up by Icardi, a 3-4 years old forgotten song became most listened song in Spotify for last consecutive 2 years. Now schools are playing that song to notify kids for breaks, Icardi shows up with 10-15 kids in front of him during pre-game ceremony, basically a goal song turned entire 5-11 years old generation into Galatasaray fan. Good result - Hughes and Drameh at the back were excellent along with Puerta in midfield - bit more confidence and I can see us really pushing up the league
Strange one. I'd say not when I have seen him player. Bedia has been knackered most games and he never brings him off.
Our formation seems to lead to us having at least 1 of our 3 midfielders being pretty anonymous. Slater did pretty well harrying and pressing, and Puerta looked class, but other than the goal I barely recall Simons being on the pitch. What I find particularly strange is that I don't recall a chance we've created down the middle in the entire season.
It's all coming together at the back. It's all coming together in midfield. It's all coming together up fr... Nah, only joking. We ain't gonna score enough goals this season to worry the playoffs. Hopeless recruitment.
