Doubt it will be legal There is too much vested interest and money in other fields that would become defunct if weed was made legal Eg hemp is better than cotton and cheaper too
I wont bother, see thefanwithnoname above he hits the nail on the head again, 100% record this lad has
Eddie and TFWNN are both assuming that legalising weed will mean that hemp will be used for textiles and instead of paper. It doesn't have to be. Eddie's correct, though, in that it was made illegal BECAUSE of the self-interest of people who owned cotton fields and paper mills but the justification for it was a faux clinical report which claimed that cannabis made black men more likely to rape white women. Hemp isn't illegal and legalising cannabis won't necessarily result in the ruin of the cotton and paper businesses.
The hemp thing was just an example, didnt think every one would get caught up in it. Without getting too complicated there would be shifts in balances of power etc, and the people who really run certain countries have a lot to lose The biggest growers of Hemp are the chinese, followed by the Koreans
I have just looked it up and the US are the biggest importers of it now. Their climate is suited to it's growth, as is that of Mexico. If it were made widely legal to cultivate it there, then they'd have less need to import so much.
I think China is the biggest grower and the US is it biggest customer But you missed what I was saying, 'the people who really run the countries' Lets take California, which isnt a country. It has a cotton industry worth around 3 and a half billion dollars, no way they are going to want to lose that PS does the US not have a ban on industrial hemp? sure it did/does
Who cares about hemp and cotton when the California cannabis industry is worth between $10 and $120 billion dollars a year.
Because they have restrictions on it's cultivation in all but 10 states, where licenses are available. Yep, that's a legitimate point. It seems that the tide is turning against them, though. The law over there seems to be moving towards legalising cultivation across the country. Perhaps they should consider changing crops?
Restrictions due to pressure??? Also I thought the california debate over legalization was to do more with marijuana? They were thinking about legalizing the use of it (think its legal with prescription). Again the reason being that the reckoned they could get so many millions through tax etc not sure what conclusion they came to
I think if you look at the californian input/impact on the presidential races might explain some of that
Or you could just not be a ****** about it and admit that California has the best conditions in the US to grow weed and the most / best land to secretly grow it on. Instead of just saying it has something to do with some load of bullshit and just use simple logic.
No i think you have the OP is about if people agree about selling cannabis not hemp and talking about how much cannabis is worth to economies and medicinal benefits is clearly related to the OP not the sale hemp and world power balances.
I dont even know what that means to be honest Just so you know though you have definately misunderstood what we were saying/discussing re California
