Just listening to an article about Russia offering violent criminals a way out of prison if they go and fight in Ukraine. On the front lines are people who have burnt people alive and stabbed their own mother to death. Russia also offering people on trial a way out of any conviction if they sign up for the front lines
This has been going on for ages, two years at least. Last I checked they'd enlisted close to 50,000 soldiers from prisons.

It was the Wagner mercenary group doing this before. The Russian Army recruiting direct from prisons is a new development I believe.
Someone would have had to clear their release from prison in the first place, and that wasn't the Wagner group. This has been state orchestrated since day one.
Given we have a prison overcrowding issue and I constantly see adverts claiming the army is preferable to being a butcher’s apprentice in Carlisle this seems an obvious move for us.
