If we're going down that route you may as well play Browne on the right side of midfield. Our wingers have been playing narrow but that's dangerous with them wanting to get wide quickly and cross the ball. I'm expecting dozens of long diagonals from them tonight so our full backs will need to restrict their forward runs. I honestly don't think midfield will be the place to try to play football, do that in the final third.
Not convinced with Rigg ont he wing personally, he might be good on the ball etc but I can't see him standing his man up and going for 1v1's much, just don't see it personally but could be very wrong
Oh 100%, I more meant the taking a man on and being very very good with his feet, he can in the middle of the park but on the wing I'm not sure. He did nutmeg a lad the other day doing it so we will see
Yeah, Rigg can beat players if they come at him but it's different skill to go past a defender who is standing off.
If I was Luton,I'd be looking to do what Watford did....push an extra man forward in the middle, draw Cirkin inside and then try to get in behind him. If we play Browne deep, alongside Neil,we can counter it. Not sure about playing Riggy on the right......if Paddy's due a rest,I might be tempted to play Wilson on the right and Connolly through the middle....think his mobility will cause them all sorts of problems. However,I'm only a humble idiot,it's probably all bullshit!
Roberts looked extremely leggy on Sunday so wouldnt be surprised at all to see him rested, and I dont think Watson or Isidor would be trusted defensively to do what Roberts does in an away game against Luton. So I can absolutely see the reasoning for Rigg in for Roberts' right wing position with Browne in the middle. Clearly it reduces our threat attacking slightly but its the best option we have if Roberts isn't at full fitness. Its one of the reasons I didn't and still don't like the Poveda signing. We needed somebody able to come in for Roberts and Poveda is famous for just never being fit.
It looks like there are still tickets in the home section for tonight’s game if any of our lot can get their hands on them. https://members.boardhost.com/lutonoutlaws/thread/1729681129.html
I think the decision to play Rigg backs up the idea they want to control the play early doors imo. Retain the ball and he grafts hard
Said to my dad yesterday that's what I would do. Roberts been poor for a few games n feel Rigg would give us better balance for playing against a team like Luton
I agree. I know he can’t beat a man like roberts but I don’t think that’s going to be our joy this game. It’s going to be controlling the flow and attacking quick. Driving forward when winning the ball and stopping their wingers playing. got a feeling hume will tuck inside and we’ll go a back 5 on defence like this Patto Rigg hume mepham onien cirkin Browne neil jobe mundle Isidor then move into the 433 in attack quickly. Stop their wing backs stop crosses and get at their makeshift defence
He will def still be able to beat his man but he'll be playing wider to offer more physicality n defensive work I also feel he will pick up some really dangerous positions by coming off the wing Thought when he was moved RM against Hull he did well
We owe these!! Playoff semi, Dan Neil got a yellow card when their player should’ve been sent off for the incident! HA’WAy the lads.
Listening to their blog they played 3-5-2 against Watford and it worked a treat so may do the same against us. Extra legs in MF and outwide makes absolute sense.
