Looks like sources at the time were correct on Chris Kaba. Outrageous our law enforcement are dragged through the mud unnecessarily to protect a guy who was a known complete scumbag. There may have been a genuine cause for concern about how he ended up being shot but his family's comments after the killing have been a disgrace. They would have known what he was like yet, like a lot of others, were quick to blame the police and play the race card. How many times has there been a an interview showing a bereaved mother telling everyone how kind and loving her dead son was only to find out later that he was gun carrying gang member? The politicians involved are even worse. The hatred for the police* amongst black people is re-enforced at every opportunity by politicians ensuring their votes from that community. Undoubtedly, some of it is a result of racist behaviour particularly in the past, but now the police can't win whatever they do. If my neighbourhood was brimming with armed gangs of drug dealers and one was shot by police, I would have little sympathy. But the first reaction seems to be to accuse the police of racism egged on by the local MP. When young black youths were stabbing each other, there were complaints about the police's lack of action, yet when stop and search was increased they were accused of disproportionate searches on young black youths. Very few politicians, community leaders or other black commentators speak up in support of the police trying to get a grip on crime within the black community. The black community needs to decide what they want.

Yeah can't understand why this is now in the off topic thread when it was clearly politicised at the time and discussed in here at length. It hasn't stopped being political because of the outcome of the trial. Some of the articles in the guardian today are shocking. Vox popping people as if the reason he was killed was only due to the colour of his skin, rather than treating the incident for what it actually was. We are dangerously close to undermining police authority within communities that have a serious gang problem.
There is literally videos of him pulling a gun on someone in a full night club. Yet BLM tried to make him their UK George Floyd moment. Sickening.
I desperately would love to know whether any of the facts which are now public, would sway Ians views in to admitting he was totally and utterly wrong. I doubt it, because the sheer unsubstantiated vitriol he was all to happy to pour on that officer is a hard left foundation belief. No amount of evidence to the contrary will ever be enough. Simply boils down to Police = bad. It's bizarre that the left see themselves as the defender of BAME communities and yet completely infantalize them as not being in anyway accountable for their own decisions. I've never understood it. Although anecdotally, the more feverishly anti police an individual is, the quicker they are to call for nonsense issues. Weird.
Weirdest thing is that the officer is facing gross misconduct charges from the police now. For ****s sake talk about making a pawn out of the identity politics game. Its almost as if these communities don't want policing and to be left in the hands of violent criminal scumbags like Chris Kaba. We as a country are so scared to address the gang issue because they are mostly young black men. If labour was actually serious about crime this would be the place to start.

People simply refuse to see the evidence of their own eyes. Until something happens to them directly. People will demonise the police up until they need them. They will say there is no problem with immigration, until it’s their children that are hurt. All because the media tells them that white men are inherently evil and racist. (In one of the most tolerant and diverse countries in human history) Truly weird behaviour. I bet we won’t see an apology or retraction from dickheads like Corbyn who were pouring gasoline on the fire.
It's a huge problem and sadly I don't see an end to it any time soon. A recent news story that wasn't mentioned on this thread and got surprisingly little media coverage in general was the suspension of Rick Prior, chair of the Met Police Federation, after he gave an interview to GB News where he said officers, particularly white officers, were wary of interacting with or confronting people from ethnic minorities in case complaints are made and they're accused of racism.
It goes even further than that with a lot of the woke left.. they fully recognise the background, history and culture of any other ethnicity or race. But talk about English history, or have any pride whatsoever in the country and suddenly we are ‘evil war mongering colonisers who have offered nothing good to the world’. I see this sort of nihilistic mindset everywhere now. It’s like they’ve been brainwashed that the Union flag is evil. It’s like they’re ashamed of their own identity and only willing to stand up for others. Sadly it won’t get any better with the wokerati in government. All we will get is higher taxes, more virtue signalling and even more problems.

Pretty sure I was the first one on here celebrating this result (ignoring Tom on his other board) and I am a lefty too. The efforts to unite anyone with a socialist conscience into a band of extremists is pretty tiresome.
