Thats a blow, but i'm sure Spearing can rise to the challenge. Don't forget we have Stevie to come back too. Stop bloody panicking some of you!
"I am sure I will come back stronger and I will achieve everything that I dream with the LFC shirt." Lucas tweet today: Now there's an LFC player.
Lucas being out injured is a major blow to our team. IMO, he is our most important player, far more important than the likes of Suarez, Gerrard and Reina since we have players, albeit at a lesser level, that can play their roles, we have noone to replace Lucas. No one! Gutted doesn't cover it. Just hope we buy someone in January. PS - I don't understand us recalling Shelvey, he can't play that role either, plus we have Adam, Henderson, Maxi and Spearing plus possibly Aurelio that can play in the middle
Of course you can! Snapped mine in a match in Gaelic football after landing from a high catch. Able to walk off and pain subsided. 5 mins later I was back on but then 5 mins later the knee collapsed on me and I was sent to the physio. The concern here is the injuries that are picked up from the area the new bit of tendon they bolt into the knee is grafted from. Mine was the hamstring tendon and hamsting tweaks have been a nuisance since
You cant make it worse, once one of the two ligaments in each knee has snapped it is snapped. You are free to walk on it to your heart content without pain just your knee will be unstable and attempting to twist round (depending which cruciate of the knee you have done) a certain direction the knee will give way. Immediate sugery isn't critical to ensuring best recovery as it will just remain in its same form. The ligament is dead and disposed of in surgery anyway, they graft a replacement from a large tendon in the body (they basially cut a bit off another tendon) which is usually the hamstring and they bolt the replacement in place.
Not thick enough. They use the hamstring or the tendon at the front of the knee that conects it to shinbone. Or the tendon from a donated cadaver if available and matching tissue
The day we can artificially create cartilage and connective tissue will be the threshold into the world of super athletes. At the moment they have substitutes from plastics, they imitate it as best they can but still cannot get near the unique combination of strength, unabrasivensss and flexibility of actual tendon, or the lubrication qualities of cartilage
I work in the biotech and medical device sector. It's happening now in certain organs. Google Tissue Regenix Group
Sorry to hear about this. Lucas has been a revelation since he finally settled into a suitable role in the side. Trying to use him as a replacement for Alonso was ridiculous and he got tons of undue stick for his form during that period, but he's been immense for you as a holding player. Who do you see taking his place in the side while he's out? Spearing? Agger? Gerrard, once he's back fit?
I think having Gerrard back fit and playing would solve a few problems. Only thing is...when he comes back can he get a good run of games??? Spearing proved last season and the league cup games this season that he can do the job, but he has always played alongside Lucas...now he is on his own. What I like about Spearing is that he has plenty of energy and pace and his ball distribution is great too, I think he will learn a lot in the next 6 months though.
I believe that too, also when Stevie returns it will be another bonus. I still think Dalglish will replace Meireles in Jan also, I'm feeling a lot less bothered by the absence of Lucas now. My only concern is City away on Jan 3rd (I think?) bit we could quite easily lose that with Lucas is the squad anyway. Just hpe it doesn't affect us in the 'big' games to much for the rest of the season.
