1/2 size just makes it easier for younger ones to handle. I certainly wouldn't give a beginner a 12 string, just stick to the 6 strings. 12 string is often something Bowie used. I did think about getting 12 one time and probably would still like one for the sound of it, but then I thought what am I going to use it for lol, you just get into the trap of collecting guitars for the sake of it. I'm up to four guitars, so I'm not doing too bad...although I wouldn't mind a spanish nylon string guitar.....to add to the collection! ...see what I mean.
I'd say £100 is a good price to start with, yeah don't go any lower than that. See if they give you any spare set of strings with it, just in case. I don't often break them, but have had them go sometimes, normally the thinnest string snaps.
12 string is great for chords, but don't even think about trying to play that thing like a lead guitar
Just a half sized body for kids. But you can get a full size one. Steer clear of a twelve string (they just double up the 6 strings and give it a deeper rounded tone) Just get a full size 6 string and I'd go for steel strings instead of a classical (spanish) guitar with nylon strings Have a look on FB marketplace bro, you can pick decent 2nd hand ones up for £60-£100
Going to go for that I think, good add ons and the reviews online seem to suggest the brands is decent.
That will get you going mate, and that's the good buy as they give you all the bits with it as well, spare strings, picks. Also good to get a tuner with it, although there are some apps you can use as well. Two things to note, which are not important: No power source, so for example my acoustic has a 9 volt battery compartment if you wanted to run a speaker to it, but tbph I never really used mine, so not required. Also no cutaway, my acoustic never had a cutaway either, it can make it easier to get to the lower frets, but again as a beginner you would rarely use them, and you can reach without a cutaway if needed (sort of).
That's the sensible way to do it mate. I've known people to spend thousands then get bored and sell the kit for ridiculously low prices and I think what a waste of money.
They were all pretty good tbf, with the middle one more than just ... busked at Uni and has done quite a few pub gigs ... Over 85k views on YouTube
Yeah decent that with a tuner, stand, strap, spare strings etc. Tuner especially Like brb said you can get a tuner app if you need one. But that clip on one is really good coz you can just clip it to the headstock and then pluck the strings without having to faff around with your phone
Got my old flexifoil kite out of the loft today. Anybody remember those ? when I lived in London I used to get my kicks being dragged around the grass on Blackheath flying a stack of these. Anyway, haven’t even flown it since I’ve been down here, so got it all out of the bag and typically the lines were tangled to ****. How do strings do that on their own ? Anyway, spent the afternoon untangling them all in the sunshine in my yard and avoiding another day of work lol Will be worth it to take it out with my daughter. Reckon she’ll love it
There’s a bowls pitch (green?) down the road on the coast. Looks quite fun. I could see myself doing that in the unlikely event I make it to 70. There’s an old boy in our little local QPR group who plays to a good level and loves it. And his neighbours probably don’t think he’s a **** for it. Good shout.
