    It's classic daylight robbery.

You can't let a ref or var with a big diamond encrusted rolex have the opportunity to make a decision against you against city.

I’ve just watched the Man City winner. It’s no goal and a free kick for obstruction on the keeper. Silva is backing into him and So the keeper has to push him off and as such his mind is taken straight off what is happening at the corner and has no chance to make a decision to come for the ball.

Everyone agreed with that, even the VAR. Only person (who isn't connected to Man City) was the Ref. Guessing he found a nice fat brown envelope in his dressing room at full time

It's a foul the second the ball is delivered in.

Its irrelevant when the ball is headed etc etc.

If the obstruction occurs with a live ball it's a free out when refs feel like it.

    Pretty clear big club call.

I’m not sure it’s written anywhere in the rule back that taking a players mind off the game is a foul though? Surely that’s the keepers fault for having poor concentration?

Except he isn’t obstructing him. Silva is standing still, keeper pushes silva forward and then he moves to the side.

If you’ve got a player backing into you and blocking your movement and you have to push him off your concentration has been taken away

So we should rule out all contact on a pitch so players can concentrate only on the ball?

That isn’t what I’m saying at all and you know it. Silva obstructed the Wolves goalkeeper.

Not a great video, but clearly shows Silva obstructing the GK about 1 second before Stones heads it.

Just seen it again, and I'm sticking with my first thought that no-one else is catching him, so definite red imo.

Totally agree this is a goal
Not only that i think City will do it over and over this season
Its a good tactic and it cannot not be penalised under the current rule

what will be interesting if it happens is wha happens when someone does it to City ?

That ball is live so it's very clearly a free out.

Every time we touch a keeper the ref blows up.

Arsenal not contesting Saliba's red,so he will miss the Liverpool game.

It will not be overturned anyway. Contesting it can result in extra ban.

Two "experts" looked at this several times after the ref gave a yellow.

The var official is a ref and then the ref himself looked and both clearly felt it was red on review of definitive evidence.

If an independent panel could look at the same evidence again and overturn it then the pgmol would been by rights to remove both officials from duty and retrain them.

not surprised as it runs the risk of an extra game ban for a frivolous appeal .

I hear this a lot but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone get an extra ban after an appeal? Is this just one of those urban myth type things or is it actually real and enforced?

Didn’t it happen to an Everton player
I could be wrong or muddling it up with something else that was harsh on them -?
