Some people are so desperate for tim to succeed they are looking through the most rose tinted goggles ever made Thats fine I hope he succeeds too, but we should be realistic. Having a shot on goal is some big success apparently
That was much better than I expected if I’m honest. Defensively we looked much better - can’t remember Sunderland having many clear chances the ref didn’t help create. Difference is they scored their big chance and Bedia didn’t. We struggled to open them up after they went 1-0 up but on the whole I think we matched a team at the top of the table. Some of our counter attacks looked good. Think we are showing signs of progress. And now…the ref. Overweight, couldn’t keep up with play. Never seen a ref get in the way so much. On top of that, missed loads of stuff on the pitch. But the unforgivable bit for me is instead of watching the Sunderland players time waste when being subbed off - he was chatting instead. Absolutely disgraceful performance. I never want him to ref us again. Would be fascinated to know what the ref assessment reads like.
Don't get why people are so angry about the ref for their goal. Mehlem still got 2 touches and ****ed them up. Significantly more his fault than the ref. Yeah the ref was ****, but I don't think he cost us. We created **** all.
Thank god someone sees it as a much improved team performance . The top team had bugger all shots on target other than the dodgy goal . We were not inferior to them on play - for me Zambrano in the middle gives us steel and a Seri like easy passer of the ball . Yes I’d like us to move it faster from the back especially if we are behind !!
Mehlem should have done better, but the ref was still between two of our players and steps forward into the way when he realises. Total cock up, and he did it on more than one occasion.
Not sure why everyone’s so negative, they’ve had a cracking start to the season and we matched them, arguably the better team when they scored. The ref gets 2 massive calls wrong. Wasteful in promising situations again but I’m convinced we get in good situations more than last season, which TW deserves credit for.
Thought we were less open at the back today and that Simons looked rather more like a genuine CDM, which we didn't seem to be bothering with at the start of thy season. The overall contribution from midfield remains poor however, Would really like to see Walter play the same midfield for 2 games running rather than the current policy which seems to be to play whoever has had a good week in training - plus Mehlem. He wouldn't be in my starting midfield.
It's infuriating, I can completely get onboard that humans miss things and can also get things wrong. But there's absolutely zero excuse when it's so obvious like things today....yes the situation for our goal he doesn't have to stop the game because he hasn't actually touched it. But they are encouraged to stop play if their positioning impacts or influences a phase of play which he most certainly did. The missed handball.....there's just no excuse or justification
I remember someone else who used to get into bother all the time, trying to mask his deficiencies by blaming the officials...
