I think you need to wait for the return fixture so you can make a few more gains in the opposing end!
Not only did they trade for him last year, they used the exact same pick to get him (the conditional 6th). The conditions were obviously not met so the Vikings got the pick back. Don’t rate Akers very highly but he’s probably better than Chandler, and definitely better than Gaskin. Jones is “week to week” with his injury so who knows how long he is out for and the offence really struggled without him against the Jets. Be interesting if they are active with any more trades before the deadline. Got **** all in draft capital but supposedly it’s a pretty weak draft class this year and their first rounder looks like it’s going to be in the 20s so I wouldn’t be against using that to go and get a good corner or interior D lineman. Right guard is probably their biggest weakness but they aren’t giving up a first for one of those and haven’t got anything else to offer. Of course if other teams think the draft isn’t very good then the Vikings first doesn’t hold much appeal. Would love it if they could get Jaycee Horn from the Panthers though
Apparently Jones has a shot of playing on Sunday so seems to be heading in the right direction. Akers can certainly take some of the workload off him though. Regarding trades, one thing the Vikings could do is to take all of the salary as well as use draft picks - we've got the cap space to do that. If the draft class is indeed a weak one in 2025, offer a 2026 2nd or 3rd rounder. Teams like the Panthers aren't going to be competitve next year anyway. Like you say Horn would be good, CB is an area where we need an upgrade.
I think full “Ramsing” it by giving up multiple drafts to build a win now team is stupid/risky and whilst it worked for them with a Super Bowl win it would almost certainly blow up in the Vikings face. And they are now going to be bad for a number of years because of doing it and the cap mess that it caused, and having no picks to add talent cheaply to the team You are right with salary cap but they shouldn’t be giving up a first for stop gap type players, I’ve seen Scherff from the Jags mentioned who would be a huge upgrade over Ingram but is in his 30s so won’t be around long. Some one in their 3rd/fourth year of their rookie deal who will be getting paid in a years time, who is on a team nowhere near competing seems doable. I’d love Dexter Lawrence or Jeffrey Simmons but doubt either are attainable for just a single first, Horn might be as I’d imagine the Panthers are pretty desperate for high picks after the Young trade. Problem is that the rest of the league will know if the Vikings have an offer accepted and can easily outbid them if they want due to the Vikings having no draft capital, they can basically offer what looks like a late first and nothing else
Oh damn it all, the streaming site I use when the Vikings are on Sky seems completely down. FML. I hope it's just temporary.
Seem to have found a stream! And it includes all the US adverts including the ever entertaining election ads Let's gooooooooooooooo
Exactly why nobody would be expecting it. It’s obviously very aggressive but the fact it’s so early is almost a reason to do it, if you **** it up have plenty of time to get it back, especially with the Lions offense
