I’m not moaning much, this was completely what I thought would happen. It’s football, people get emotionally attached when games are going on/straight after games of course they’re going to vent if stuff like yesterday happens.
I've said before that yo yo ing between champ and L1 would be my ideal but I appreciate I'm on my own there lol. Miles away from the Prem, lots of interesting grounds to visit, and occasional seasons with no international breaks and entering the first round of the cup.
Yes, we all remember how that turned out in 2005 to 2009, after two okay seasons we became dire to watch (I think I gave up my season tickets after 3 years of that total dross) awful to watch with a whole raft of journeymen players - Jermaine Wright , Jason Euell anyone?, bankrupt and the inevitable drop to the third tier.
Can’t believe I’m saying this in bloody October, but all the club can do now is get the financials as strong as possible ready for relegation. Will all be worth it if we win the championship next season. It could be a really fun season if SR play their cards right, bring in a decent manager and give us a strong championship squad. Having the record low points total is gonna suck, but we already have the 9-0 record’s so I’m used to being embarrassed by supporting saints. This is one large reason why Martin may stay the whole season. Less compensation to pay probably
It’s quite hard to know what will happen when we go down. Last time it was blatantly obvious we would be selling about £200m worth of players (think we ended up around the £180m mark). This time we don’t really have players who teams are going to want, so we might be forced more into taking lower fees to get wages off the books. But we also had such a big clear out only 18 months ago that maybe we don’t have many high earners and we can keep them if we want in the Champ. Obviously Ramsdale will go but outside of him I’m not sure anyone is going to be on mental money that we couldn’t sustain for a year in the Champ. Dibling and Fernandes I’d expect both to leave with Ramsdale, and KWP when his contract is up but apart from that I don’t see many others definitely leaving
My goodness what an utter shambles and embarrassment we are. I was depressed until I read the bits in bold. Cheers Os
Sorry to be negative, I was trying to be more positive this season. But yeah we are a shambles. Shambles recruitment, shambles manager. Shambles owner.
I’d rather let him go and get a senior player or coach to be caretaker. It can’t get worse and might help with the recruitment process.
where on earth did I suggest "havuing a team made up of academy players"? Of course you back them up with experienced palyers....and a suitable coach
I seem to remember an entire season of "if onlys" a couple of years ago. Changing the manager a couple of times then really helped. I guarantee every team that gets relegated says the same thing. This was all SO predictable...
I don't have any answers or ideas really. I know that I don't like the tippy-tappy pass around the penalty area stuff, by Saints or anyone else for that matter, it's boring and anti-football. Just watched Kimarnock-v-Rangers and in the first half there were no shots on target. Was it ever boring. What has the professional game done to football? As for Sports Republic, and all the other players in this drama, here is the only thing I know, they don't give a crap what any of us think. They might say they do, they might talk in press releases like they are directly talking to us, but they do not care. Football is based on results, win lots of games and you are good, lose lots of games and you are crap. It really is that simple.
