http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/kaboul-uninterested-in-juve-switch Younes Kaboul has ruled out the possibility of joining Juventus in January after reports linked him with a move to the current Serie A league leaders emerged this week. Kaboul has been in outstanding form this season at the heart of defence alongside Ledley King, helping Spurs up to third in the Barclays Premier League on the back of a ten game unbeaten streak, with the Frenchmanâs performances seemingly catching the eye of Juventus boss Antonio Conte. Despite being linked with a move to Italy previously, Kaboul insists he has no plans to leave White Hart Lane any time soon. "I am fine here with Tottenham. The manager trusts me and likes me to play for him. I am very well and settled here, the former Portsmouth man said. "Juventus is a great club and attractive. But, to be honest, I like it here at Spurs, so I am here and we are trying to fight until the end of the season to be challenging for the title and also for the Champions League positions.â "Hopefully we will achieve that because this league is a tough league, he added. Kaboul may find his place in the Spurs starting side under pressure in the coming weeks with the impending return of Michael Dawson, while a host of defenders continue to be linked with a move to White Hart Lane ahead of the transfer window opening next month, with Boltonâs Gary Cahill and Ajaxâs Jan Vertonghen both rumoured to be ready for a switch to north London.
Not been working last few weeks so my sleep pattern has flipped to sleep allday and up all night hence reading and linking dodgy links.
Gallas, Bassong and King to leave at the end of the season and Dawson, Kaboul, Caulker and new signing to be our four centre backs ???
I'll make a protest if Ledley hasn't been offered/ signed a new deal by March. CB's for next season I'd like: King, Kaboul, Dawson, Caulker and would like Gallas to stay if he was willing to accept a squad role (doubtful as he wants to play regularly), if not then someone similar to Gallas - experienced but won't be first choice. Bassong will be gone in the summer/ maybe Jan if we do (inevitably) crash out of Europe. A shame as he's not that bad a defender, just has the odd lapse in concentration.
If we sign one (Vertonghen, Cahill, Samba, whoever) and sell one (Bassong, ...nope, just Bassong by the looks of it) we have the same number of centre, so he may well get a new contract and we rotate through them based on who isn;t injured that morning.
With more thought it's more likely Gallas imo. If he gets through this season I can't really see another out of him, for the club it would mean committing to another deal, most of which is likely to be in the treatment room. He's 34 now and will be 35 for next season. In all seriousness do you really want to waste a squad place on WG...I don't think so.
It's a massive sign of how times have changed, that our best players would rather stay with little old us, than join Italian "giants."
King only needs to play 10 more games realistically to have made about 20 starts, surely that's enough for him to be offered a new contract,he is after all still our best CD and makes anyone he plays with a better player.Gallas i'm sure will probably go,at the age of 35 it would be asking a lot of Levy to pay him for basically sitting on the bench.
I think Bassong's probably going to be replaced by Vertonghen in January, if there's anything in these latest rumours. Give the Belgian six months of adjustment to England and the Premier League, while he eases into the first team. Gallas will probably want one more pay day and a move to PSG would be a nice way for him to end his career, I think. Back to where he was born. Nice and circular.
Unless an injury occured to King (always likely as we know) or Kaboul, I don't think Vertonghen would have much playing time, with our Europa League participation pretty much at an end, that leaves only the FA Cup where we can afford to rotate the squad... I just can't see Vertonghen coming to us with that sort of situation.
That doesn't stop players we're trying to sign, like Mirko Vucinic and Milos Krasic, joining them. Hang on, did I just board the New Addington tram again?
In the north-west, whilst PSG are in the south-west. In other words, Paris needs more football teams...
