never mind, onto the next one, wonder if the big crowd at the SoL played on thier minds as that was like womens football from years ago, i know our lasses can play much better. i could nit-pick a bit, ref let a few things go, the mags 2nd goal one of thier lasses had both arms over the keepers shoulders which stopped her getting to the ball but if honest, they deserved the win.
After that performance, if we'd sneaked a point it would have been daylight robbery. It was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from our Ladies team. We were second to every loose ball and until Watson came on we couldn't get the ball down and play. In fact, we struggled to string two passes together. I expected Dear, Kitching and Fenton to boss the midfield, even against Rachel Furness, but none of them turned up. The blond lass bossed the game in the middle of the park for them. Fenton and Lambourne had stinkers and Goddard has the turning circle of an oil tanker. Didn't know that Charlotte Potts had signed for them. She'll not be there next season cos, as we know, she doesn't stay at a club for much longer than 1 season before getting itchy feet. Mary McAteer played well and along with Stapleton and Brown, and a good cameo from Katy Watson, these were the only ones to take any credit from the game. Mel Reay's only tactics from the start seemed to be launch it over the top or down the flanks and chase it. We didn't look like a football team at all until the last 10 minutes, when we gave it a go. We really miss Louise Griffiths and Brianna Westrup at the back and the sooner they get back the better. Their centre forward would have had a much harder afternoon against Westrup, that's for sure. Fortunately, Portsmouth appear to be this years whipping boys (22 goals conceded and only 1 scored in 6 games), so they will probably save us from relegation, if it was to come to that. We are a lot better side than we showed today and need to bounce back quickly from this setback.
Just said the same think to the bairn. All over the place at the back. They had players free in the box.
Penalty shout was a good one Missed some chances mind - Dale has my slippers on the wrong feet I think
I'm torn on who to support, Sunderland women cos of the lads and it's my team or Durham cos it's my county!
After a shocking performance last week it was important that we bounced back. Came from behind to win it too. Bit puzzled as to why Katy Watson is getting very few minutes at the moment. Seems a much better bet than Eleanor Dale from what I've seen. We've still got the bottom 3 to play for the first half fixtures, plus 2 mid-table sides, so we should be looking to add at least 9 points by the halfway stage of the season.
