Why isn't it a football town? Can someone explain it, I need the rationale, something beyond attendance stats.
How can someone explain it? There’s just no interest and hadn’t been in living memory. People have no attachment to the club, it happens and it’s common. Without going and asking the people of Darlington I can’t explain why that is.
Darlington and Wrexham interestingly both highest position 15th in second tier. Although darlo in 1926 and Wrexham 1978. Darlo biggest gate 21,000 Wrexham 35,000 Darlington population 107,000 Wrexham population. 135,000 Darlo surrounded by lots of other teams. Wrexham near chester and Shrewsbury.
Didn't Ryan Reynolds and his mate looks at Darlington before Wrexham, I'm sure that's what was said at the start of the Wrexham documentary. Could be wrong like but I'm sure they looked at someone else before buying them
For some weird reason, years ago, always thought Carlisle would be a good buy if someone had enough money. Michael Knighton tried and failed, so I guess my thought was utter bollocks
I think that was more his fault than Carlisle being a club you couldn't achieve success with. Installing himself as manager etc. I used to watch Carlisle a lot. I reckon they could be a mid table Championship side, on the basis of fanbase etc, if someone really got things together there.
