Bacardi for me - from a girl who wouldn't stop buying me drinks when I was 16. Wonder if it not only put me off Bacardi but turned me gay as well.
Can you put any meat on the bones of this? I follow him on twitter and read the translations of his tweets but it's hard to make much sense of. The other day someone accused him of paying no tax through Acun Medya and he made a point of publicly challenging that. Is that the sort of thing you're talking about? To me it's always seemed that in Turkey he's revered by many but also viewed with suspicion and scepticism by others.
With all due respect the Turkish media and public seem absolutely nuts, so I tend to take all their social media postings with a huge pinch of salt.
The Turkish media is mainly the AK Party. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Get back to supporting Third Lanark, great history. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
2nd of Oct tweet: Related to illegal betting accusations: Basically Galatasaray signed an agreement with a so-called "news" website, acting as extension of a betting firm who has no license for betting in Turkey. Acun made a public announcement that he will take this matter to highest place possible in courts, meanwhile Galatasaray media brought up court rulings from couple of years ago where Acun's TV lost a case after airing illegal bet adverts on his TV channel during football matches, which Acun claims in tweet that advertising came from Dutch service provider. He also completed statement with 4 questions, 2 related to illegal betting advert of Galatasaray, other two related to "Galatasaray is not announcing money they paid to players correctly" and hurting competition in league. My note on salaries: Indeed Galatasaray is announcing them a bit lower (actually Fenerbahce did same for Jorge Jesus and Mourinho), because they waive their image rights and sponsor companies agrees separate deals with players, like endorsements of NBA players, Jordan-Nike kind of deal without including Bulls. All done to avoid Football Federation expense limits. For example: Icardi earns 10m euros net salary per year, but Galatasaray only pays 6M, other 4M is provided by advertising deals between Icardi and sponsors of Galatasaray. It is actually legal since Galatasaray is not part of deal between Icardi and sponsors so it is a commercial deal between two parties, not part of football court rulings, but ethical side is debatable because sponsors are there thanks to Galatasaray image. Same for Zaha and Osimhen deals, which is why Zaha couldn't complete a move to England in summer because he couldn't revoke sponsor deal. 9th of Oct tweets: Acun's heated discussions with a reporter. Acun claims this person was calling him help in the past but now he is fiercely criticize him. Reporter asks him to announce "when" and "why" he called him for help, Acun releases his voice recordings and time, but doesn't explain why. Reporter claims it was about a TV show that his wife preparing, probably about life of famous people, i don't get rest completely to be honest, it was a long and boring video above 1 hour etc. etc. My two cents: I never understand why it is a big issue, it is a bit Turkish sentiment that if a person asks for help once or works with you, he is forever in debt to you. Since I am half Turkish, I don't get it to be honest, it is a bit against Anglo-Saxon culture, may be others can explain better, but I realized same behavior when i work with Turkish clients and that's why i quitted market in my personal business, they really think they own you. 14th of Oct tweet: Betting firm that Acun accused Galatasaray on 2nd of Oct tweet, shows up on Acun's TV channel during Iceland-Turkey game, where Acun claims he didn't get any money but it was a deal between Iceland Football Federation and betting firm so Acun defends himself. There is an English article about this and also explains Acun's previous illegal betting fine: https://www.duvarenglish.com/illega...during-turkey-iceland-soccer-match-news-65095 17th of Oct tweet: A quoted tweet shows that Acun Medya company did not pay any taxes in 2023, although they paid in 2022, but a bit less than the amount they should actually pay. Acun claims his company is non-profit but companies related to it paid 324 million (roughly 7M pound) taxes in total. My two cents: I don't have any expertise about it, but 7M total for all companies seems very low to be honest, pretty sure those companies made more than 20M pounds for whole year (tax rate for corps was around 30ish percent if I remember, but as I said above I quit market like 7-8 years ago)
Acun runs an investigation for 2-3 weeks in secret on where Hull City money spent and findings: Tan bought himself (on paper it is on his wife) house or houses (word to word translation) from London He did a "process" in Zekeriyakoy (Istanbul) too - doesn't explain what is it, it could be a bank transfer or another real estate Matter will be moved to court soon apparently. Note: Summary of video, not my claims, just to be safe since it seems really a big deal.
Video mentions another source, so I also checked there, only different info: Money we are talking about is indeed Philogene transfer fee - I believe it is already mentioned in the thread. Not sure if it is the full amount or part of it, or is it a commission, no details.
I checked microblog sites, reddit, reddit-like Turkish sites, not much info. But a warning, Sansursuz Futbol seems like an extremely pro-Fenerbahce channel, their Instagram only follows Fenerbahce players and club account etc., they only produce videos about Fenerbahce, not even Turkish NT. So I'd be a bit cautious about claims, because their source is definitely Acun or someone close considering their close proximity to club. I hope Tan also talks about what happened on court, he will face a huge media backlash until then for sure.
Thank you oozkan - a lot of information there. Not sure what to make of it all or how to process it. Some relates to issues solely in Turkey, others to here, some specifically to Tan Kessler. Can you clarify what you mean when you say that the Philogene transfer fee is an element in all of this. In what way? Is it the major focus for Tan's departure. If yes, in what way? What are the suspected/likely underhand dealings that have happened?
Nobody mention details, all they say expenses Tan made is related to Philogene transfer. I have similar question, did he spend part of transfer fee for himself and how, did he get commission as agent, no details given.
