So here I am lying on my sunbed in Kos and every time my watch pinged I was too nervous to look! But hey ho! What a score! A fantastic result and looking at the league table, Robbie must be worried! Riza has done his job prospects no harm today. Same again on Tuesday and he could get the nod. Blooobirrrds!
Someone pinch me that I’m not dreaming Turnbull had a big chance today to press for more starts, and took it. He starts for me every time over Ralls - he passes forward when he sees a gap.
I can see horses for courses going forward. We'll play teams where we need to be more conservative in there. But when the opportunity arises...... Portsmouth may be another such opportunity.
Have to agree with that. Turnbull looked a whole new proposition now that we're looking to move the ball forward.
Also again we saw how vital it is if Colwill plays he plays no 10. Plymouth just didn’t know how to deal with him.
FFS.... I turn my back for 2 minutes.... Choose Turnbull as a scorer whilst down in the county where our visitors have travelled from and what happens???? Half the outfield team score and my boy isn't amongst the scores and they go and get 5!!! When did we last score 5 in a bloody game????? Clearly I now need to go to wherever our visitors are from each bloody game... Not sure how Mrs Brizzle will feel about trekking to Norwich but there we go.....
Played our best football of the season with 3 midfielders all taking the game to the opponents. Plymouth started well, missed a good chance, then we took over. Having one of their players sent off helped. Plymouth pretty much fell apart after that and we probably should have scored another 2 or 3.
Absolutely. At last a real departure from the Ralls & Siopis style. Tanner has relished his pairing up Colwill. Goutas & Ng also back to their best.
Just watched the bitesize highlights. Will watch the extended highlights when they post them. Some good goals. Colwill using his physique to good effect. He outmuscled opponents a couple times. Central to everything. Players really happy for the players getting their first goals. The look of togetherness. A long way to go, but signs of encouragement. https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/video/player/0_hl2uf338 (Cling won't need this as he saw the whole match ).
Have to say that it's been a long time since I saw an individual City player influence a game like Colwill did today. Miles above any other player from either side. There was a completely different aura about the game and even when Plymouth were having a good start, it seemed obvious that we would prevail. Ok you could argue that Plymouth went off the boil but our lads should take credit for taking the heating out of their game. Well done to all concerned. The Pompey game will be very interesting now. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
Both. You should have been thumped as well last week as well mind if our manager hadn't gone negative.
It's quiet on here given we won 5-0 yesterday. Everybody still in shock? Watched the extended highlights this morning. As good as the bite size highlights, just with no more goals. It's hard to compare performances for me only listening on radio and watching highlights, so input from regular goers would be appreciated. What was noticeable in the extended highlights was the movement of players, especially the front 4 who almost seemed interchangeable. Robinson starting to look the striker we thought and hoped he could be. A lot of movement, dragging defenders about, creating space for others and a none to shabby finish. Just one result, but Brizzle has regularly posted that there were signs of encouragement. Need to follow that up on Tuesday now. It makes you wonder even more what might have been against brizzle.
Possibly, last week was comfortably our worst performance this season. Maybe it was good timing to play you, as your lot still lacked any confidence.
OK, haven't posted because I didn't go - choice again rather than circumstances. Watched it on Sky this time like clingo and was impressed. We should have had to come back from a goal down, but that's their problem. The simple fact is we created far more chances and probably took only half of them - their keeper saved them from a double figure thrashing. The Turnbull/Robertson behind Colwill set up worked a like a dream after persisting with the Siopis/Ralls midfield pairing. We seemed to be operating a kind of the Harry Arter/Vaulks midfield thug method of stopping everything but creating nothing. Colwill's control was sublime with Robertson and Turnbull having his back throughout the game. Robinson enjoyed himself and Tanner is bloody dangerous. El Ghazi is still not quite there. After the early scare, the back four were in control - Plymouth had no answer.
Good summary Sparks. I can't think of any from the starting 11 who had less than a good game. El Ghazi maybe but he scored which should boost his confidence. Even Chambers had his best game yet.
