Much of this sounds far too hipsterish for my liking…BUT I do like a nice cocktail and tbh I’m happy to pay a bit more if it’s done well in a nice place.

Bizarrely I was only discussing Fernet Branca with my brother a few days ago. He’s a proper cocktail master/nerd and had just got a bottle of the ‘bartenders handshake’ as he referred to it as (and the article does) although he wasn’t a big fan neat (he’d got it for a specific cocktail)

Nothing unusual there, most areas of the city have a bring out your rubbish day, no pre booking required, and the day before the scrap dealers descend. The council are well used to this, and this time tomorrow the rubbish will be cleared. :emoticon-0138-think

Like Bushmills myself. Got a recent taste for tequila. Though don’t drink that often now. As for akvavit, once got invited to lunch with the captain of the Spero, one of the most interesting chaps I have ever met and had a host of fascinating stories, along with a client of the shipping company I was working for.
The captain was offering shot after shot of the stuff during the delicious meal, better than most restaurants I have been in, and as we left and hit the fresh air the client went flying straight down the gangplank. He ended up back in Brid with me in a nightclub which was unfortunate as he lived in Driffield and had to get a taxi back.<laugh>

OK I thought it was just if you had A sofa or A fridge you could ask the council to come and collect. There are mountains of stuff already now and I suppose the night shift will be coming soon with even more.

There’s no escape, according to Rupert. Haven’t heard that song in quite a while.

Pernod is the teenage drink that made me unwell, a few years ago someone got me a bottle….i thought its been 30 years let’s give it a go…opened the bottle & the smell hit me….made me gag…not drinking that…it can sit on the bar & gather dust with the many other spirit bottles that I don’t like!!

Funny that, saw Poretti lager here for the first time couple of weeks ago. Bought a case, tastes much like all the rest to me... It's the sort of thing I like when I've been digging the garden or something and I just fancy a cold beer.

Oozo - didn't drink alcohol for 4 months, about a year before any spirits...
    I'd like to blame @dennisboothstash ...

I might have to set up a charity to rehome unwanted bottles of spirits.
    They need love too.

It's the kind of foreign muck that tastes good when you're on a yacht (or a ferry) with a German female backpacker in the Adriatic, but turns into paint-stripper on the flight back home.

There's hundreds of different types over here, each region has it's own producer, but they all taste the same to me. Mainly drunk at Christmas to 'supposedly break up the fatty food' - the old spirit drinkers classic excuse. Tends to have that effect, that you drink a few, grimace and forget about them and then stand up at the end of the meal and the earth seems to speed up on its orbit.
