Yes, just edited my post above. Had lost interest in the Stones by then, other than regularly reminding my dad for decades that he said as I set off to see the Stones in May 1964 to make the most of it as they will be forgotten about in 6 months, so didn’t register.
Got to have some Sam Cooke on the FNMT. Someone said this was his first TV appearance after his two year old son had drowned which is why he appears so wistful given the lyrics about a baby and no crying.
That performance was indeed less than six months after his son died. He wasn't the luckiest of blokes, his first wife died in a car crash, then his son died in a pool, then he was in a car crash and his chauffeur died, then he was shot dead by a motel manageress.
I remember seeing when Cassius Clay, as he was then, rushed over to the ropes shouting after winning the World Title. Thought he was just acting up as he did then. But later, cleaned up tapes, it showed he was calling for his idol, the only man we was in awe of, Sam Cooke, to join him in the ring. A later TV programme they were both in showed just how much he admired Sam Cooke.
