Remember watching this in 1964. One of the most influential guitarists. The first to have a Gibson SG. A number of future rock stars bought SGs after seeing this.
Yes. I had the Alan Bown set and Jimmy James and the Vagabonds Live At The Marquee album in 1966. An album to listen to if anyone wants to get the feel of a night out in the mod days. And the Otis Redding Stax Tour live in Europe 1967. There were ones long before then but those were ones I bought. The great Sam Cooke did one at the Cococabana in 1964 but I didn’t come across that until later.
When it gets to Bo Diddley playing the delectable Cookie V is far sexier just moving around banging a tambourine than the half naked ones gyrating and twerking you see so many of these days.
1964 was a good year for live music on TV. The one featuring Rosetta Thorpe I posted above , a Little Richard Special, saw him that year best live act I have seen, and a Jerry Lee Lewis one.
Which one was that? Was scratching my head, then remembered. My interest in the Stones declined after Aftermath so that one didn’t register.
