Rigg isn't a tough tackling midfielder, he can put his foot in but he is ball player, with great vision and a lot of skill
Totally agree however Cirks does also Qualify for Ireland which may also have affected his decision. As far as I know Rigg and his family are looking to extend his deal to secure his immediate future to Sunderland, however a year is a long time in football.
@JLA_FC Only Lamine Yamal has more goal-creating actions per 90 this season for players 20 or younger, than Sunderland's Chris Rigg. please log in to view this image #SAFC please log in to view this image
I was thinking earlier about the best teenagers I have seen. So many hit the big time early like Maradonna, Pele, Cruyff. Then obviously latterly Rooney and Owen in this country. One that Rigg echoes a little is Fabregas. He played 150 times for Arsenal before he was 20. Brought in as a 16 year. Messi played half the games before he was 20. Fabregas had that elite footballing brain, probably one of the best in the last 20 years. Rigg has a brain like that imo. He could easily play 150 for us before he is 20. He looks to me the sort of young player who does not need a rest. He thrives on being the main man. It wont be mental tiredness with him I am sure.
Going back a long way but Rigg reminds me of Martin Peters. Comfortable on the ball, great feet, spatial awareness, an eye for goal and loads of bottle.
