At the outset I questioned why a US pension fund would invest in an ailing third division English football club, just shows what I know about investment strategy!!
Just watched the 45 minute interview, just wow, only heard good things from Ed and Mark about the strategy moving forward. Multi million pound training ground on the horizon, upgrading the academy to Cat 1 and general investment in all things ITFC. It sure is good being a Town fan right now.
Good to hear that they were.looking at clubs all over the world, and stopped looking when they got to Ipswich. We can be mighty proud, good times now and even better times ahead!
Remember how bonkers we all thought it was that Clegg was not going for a Category One academy? It was at that point that Evans set us on a course for League One football.
Yeah, this can only be good news. As others have said, investment in the training facilities and a general investment in the club is definitely welcome and can only make us better. Obviously their end goal is to eventually make a shed load of money. Possibly means a big sale when (if) we’re established in the Premier League. That does mean they know they have to invest now, which full credit to the Americans - they have been doing. Only potential pause for concern is if we’re not doing well - what next? Do they look for a quick sale and hand the club over to a more nefarious owner who has the chequebook? Could we end up the property of a nation state? I’d like to think they’ve got the club’s interests at heart and no real point - at this stage - looking a gift horse in the mouth, as the saying goes!
Clegg didnt know the first thing about football and he wasnt hired to get involved with anything related to the Club, but he was an ex member of the British Olympic Committee and the London Olympics were next, then as if by magic Evans got the contract for Olympic ticket sales in Ireland and then after the games were over Clegg was gone, money was made, and ITFC didnt matter a damn.
It was all part of that "shoulder shrugging" couldn't-care-less attitude which drove us to the third division. We came within a whisker of getting a Cat A assessment but when it failed we didn't see how we could improve things or make that final push we just gave up.I'm sure when the present regime apply for Cat A we'll sail through because they'll have done their preparation properly.
I don't think the owners will cut and run at this stage.I see us as being ahead of the plan with promotion to the Premiership so soon.I think they'll want to maximise their investment by seeing us established in the Prem even if it means relegation this Season and push again the following year.
This user posts spam links to gambling sites and the like. Referring to ‘us’ is particularly off since most of their posts are on the Hull board. I think this comment on a stale thread is probably to make the spam harder to detect.
