US threat to cut Israel military aid is sign of anger at broken promises Biden administration’s most detailed public criticism yet of the way Israel has blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza. It was signed by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and was supposed to be private, until it was leaked to Israeli journalists, external. It is a blueprint for an entirely different approach by Israel to the aid operation in Gaza - expediting it, rather than imposing restrictions. The letter is a line-by-line examination of Israel’s obstruction of aid deliveries – and the way its forcible relocation of civilians has exposed 1.7 million Palestinians to serious risk of disease. It even challenges Israel’s long-standing attack on UNRWA, the UN agency that looks after Palestinian refugees. The US is “very concerned” about proposed new laws that would “remove certain privileges and immunities”. An Israeli government minister wants to confiscate UNRWA’s headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem to use the land for a Jewish settlement. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3e9q4nylwjo
Reports coming out that Israel's number one target, the Hamas leader Sinwar is dead. I have seen pics on twitter, not posting them, the pics look like him. Media awaiting confirmation but at this time, SKY media are convinced enough to be reporting it.
Well they've killed just about every other man, woman and child in their immediate vicinity, so the odds of having hit this guy, (whoever the **** he is) must be quite high. So can everybody stop killing people now please?
He's supposedly the top man who's got a wacking great hole in his skull now, so he's died like the sewer rat that he was. The man that orchestrated the 7th Oct attack, so he's just about now meeting his destiny in hell if such a place exists. Oh and before anyone starts on me about Netanyahu, he's going to hell as well.
I'd like to see all of them down there, Sinwar, whoever takes over the Hezbollah leadership, Netanyahu, Ben-Givr and Smotrich While were at it can we lob Andrew Tate, Laurence Fox, Donald Trump and Elon Musk down there too ?
UK considering sanctions on Israeli ministers Smotrich and Ben-Gvir The sanctions are in response to Smotrich’s comments that starving civilians in Gaza might be justified and Ben-Gvir’s remarks that violent settlers are heroes. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024...ns-on-israeli-ministers-smotrich-and-ben-gvir
Official confirmation that Sinwar is dead....although I didn't think they would be able to fill the size of the hole in his head.
It's a good thing he's gone, and it might see the US up their pressure on Israel to end their siege in Gaza now that they've eliminated their top man.
I was actually thinking that. It gives Netty a get out of jail card, by saying it's the end of Hamas. It's not but it's the end of those that caused the 7th Oct atrocity. Especially with the US applying pressure at the mo. Although I will say, I take absolutely no notice of the media and this US pressure, I believe it when I see it - Biden is coming up to an election so he's got to be seen to be saying the right things as a supposed peacekeeping country to which they are not. What next....I'm not holding my breath, but if I was Netty I'd be announcing it as a win, and focus on the hostages, tell the otherside this is your chance for peace. Sadly Netty is a fooking lunatic and will smash anything in his path. Not for me to judge him, that will be down to his maker...I think EVERY leader in the world on all sides have a lot of answering to do if the big man in the sky exists but right now Netty, please take the win.
It's an opportunity for Netanyahu to claim to the win, but like you say, he's a ****in psycho intent on smashing everything to ****. Maybe some internal pressure to get the hostages released will sway him, but I do think the US have leverage here. There was a letter from Blinken and Llyod Austin recently giving Israel 30 days to end the siege in Gaza and open up aid routes along with a host of other reminders that Israel are bound by in return for military aid. So the end of Sinwar and effectively the Hamas leadership will mean the excuses that Israel use to keep their foot on the neck of Gaza will dry up. If Netanyahu is smart he will take this win. But he might just be holding out to see if Trump wins the election, because that **** will give him exactly what he wants. The same as he will with Putin.
it actually said something on the lines of "we will consider restricting some arms supplies" and will be met with token gestures as the Israeli Govt wait to see who is the US president
I didn't realise until I heard something on the news a short while ago, that the Israeli's had drone footage of Sinwars last moments. The drone flies into a bombed out building on an upper floor, as it flies in you can see a man sitting in an armchair, his right hand missing and arm resting down on the arm of the chair, he turns and sees the drone and in an act of final defiance throws a stick or something at the drone with his left arm, it misses.. It must have been shortly after that footage he met his final fate, I assume with another rocket. War on a whole new level these days, where every detail is captured and verified, although it appears at the time, the Israelis never realised it was him. Edit: I should have added after he was killed, the IDF went into the building and searched the clothing on the remains of the body. I heard something about DNA later in the news so I wonder if they had his DNA on file which enabled them to verify who it was.
