It's the exact same donation as before

Keeping quiet about it meant nobody would have done any further digging

Starmer is a staunch Zionist, if push came to shove he would choose Israel over the UK

The UK government will always be on the side of Israel, no matter what Israel do or how many people they kill. Israel could publicly hang babies from Gaza and Starmer would say it’s self defence.

And on the subject of who has been bunging Starmer & Pals cash, Novo Holdings CEO Kasim Kutay bunged them £50k

Novo Holdings have a controlling stake in Ozempic

Ozempic is what we're hearing will be injected into the unemployed in order to sacrifice some more thralls at the altar of The Economy

I don't think that this is remotely true. Starmer has to distance himself from Tankie Grandpa's various antisemitism scandals, unfortunately.
The media will absolutely slaughter Labour is they're not seen to be publicly supportive of Israel, as we've all seen.

The Israeli government are appalling and so are Hamas, obviously.
The whole situation is a nightmare for anyone that wants to remain in power while bringing in worthwhile solutions.

Except that it almost certainty isn't. That hedge fund uses automated trading methods so will often hold various stocks for short periods. The fact that it held them in June doesn't mean that it holds them now. Also most of the companies concerned are huge and their share price would barely move on an Israeli armaments ban even if a UK ban affected them at all which is unlikely if they are US based.
Also the donation will be from the UK based management company, not from the Cayman hedge fund itself. As I've pointed out several times on here, all investment funds are based in jurisdictions with zero tax...this isn't to avoid tax but simply to make sure that investors pay the same amount of tax as they would if they held the underlying investments themselves.
The chance of them trying to influence government policy to increase the value of their holdings is zero. They probably have a view on financial regulation though...that's where you should be looking if you want to find a dodgy motive.

It is true though. The actions of a government show their true intentions over their weak hollow words.

The uk are arming Israel and helping them in their bombing of Palestine.

I’m not saying it’s easy but a start would be to stop helping their commit their genocide.

You're being overly simplistic and ignoring what the reaction would be.
Getting booted out, becoming utterly unelectable again and being replaced by the Tories wouldn't help the Palestinian people.
I don't like it, but that's the reality. There's no easy solution and we all know what would happen if Labour criticised Israel.

Simplistic to not want kids being burnt alive while attached to iv drips and for Gaza to not be a death camp?

To say there is no alternative to the current Israel attack is wrong. Israel could be stopped if certain governments wanted them to stop.

Rather than say weak statements and pretending he wants it to stop, he should at least show his true face and say he’s behind Israel all the way.

Not that the sales in Europe would be that high, considering the price has been halved in a week in the UK due to poor numbers, but this is still bloody funny!! <laugh>

Backbenchers don't enact policy, but before we right off the Labour Government as a whole, it does at least look like their MP's are pursuing the right things. And I imagine they will get sufficient numbers to push some, if not all of these Private Members bills though! <applause>

    Two things
1.) It bunged Starmer & Co the money in June
2.) Israel was bombing Gaza in June

Entirely irrelevant. The company wouldn't have gained or lost money if UK had changed its position on Israel. So the donation couldn't have been for that purpose at any time.

It happens to be true that there are people in the world who have lots of money who still support Labour and there is no a priori reason to suspect that they are getting anything in return for donations. I would prefer to see political parties funded by the state to avoid any implications of corruption but that isn't the system we have so I am entirely happy with Labour receiving donations.

Well a minority of them do. Me included. You shouldn't be so cynical.
The company who donated to Labour seem to own about $6b of investments mostly belonging to its owners or employees. They have given about 0.1% of that to Labour. It's not exactly a massive donation looked at like that.

You included? I’m on about the super rich who donate large amounts. They definitely want something back in return.

0.1% or not, they don’t give to be charitable.

They do. I am not super rich but have met a few people who are and many give away a large proportion of their wealth to charity. For example Michael Spencer, a billionaire ex Tory treasurer, is paying for a new building at his old Oxford College, Bill Gates gives loads away through his foundation and many others make large gifts to charities.
The Quadrature website explains why they donated to Labour and the explanation is quite plausible.
People who are better educated are less likely to vote Conservative and more likely to be rich. It would be quite surprising if none of them donated to help their party of choice.

My F-I-L spends money on tax avoidance...so that he can give all of the saving to his chosen charities, rather than pay it in tax. He's a rabid Tory, supporting even Johnson and Truss, up to the point that they left in disgrace.

    It takes all sorts...
