They play each other fairly regularly now though so not as interesting it was. Didn't they play just a few weeks back?

Yeah, didn't realise they're in the same division now.

Been reported by The Times and Telegraph that the FA have made contact with Guardiola. Sounds like if Pep wants the job it's his.

Yeah, Tuchel for all his qualities wouldn't be my choice at all. Though it would keep the FA on their toes, which might be funny at least.

I'm not against the idea of Tuchel. But if the FA are open to appointing Tuchel, then I'm not sure why they seemingly weren't interested Poch. Appointing Poch seemed a no-brainer to me, but I wondered if the FA were set on either an English appointment or an internal appointment.

Maybe i am weird, but I feel the England manager should be English. Or at least have an affinity with England (lol eg Kylie). Managing the expectations of a country is better when you are English. I know the Lionesses have done ok, but this is just my opinion.

    I would say either or

It will either be inspired or a catastrophe.

He is the kind of manager who might win the World Cup and then fail to qualify for the Euros (although we would have to make an extra hell of an effort to not qualify for 2028 given there is a catch net).

I'd go even further and see they should have to be.

International competition is all about countries placing their best up against each other and I see no reason why coaches shouldn't be subject to the same eligibility requirements as the players.

Imagine how fuming the other home nations would be if we ended up taking the catch net spot due to underperforming.

I guess it puts paid to people thinking the FA just wanted a 'yes' man.

Because Tuchel has won things (beyond the French league) and Poch hasn’t, would be my guess

I’m fully on board the Tuchel Train . Here’s someone with a pretty good track record of success in Cup competitions and in matches against top opposition. Plus some degree of tactical flexibility and not afraid to leave a big name on the bench for the benefit of the team structure

It's certainly an interesting one - he's tactically streets ahead of Southgate, but not an easy man to handle by all accounts. Would be somewhat ironic if football 'came home' under German stewardship.

Tuchel's a far better choice than Potter, who I thought we'd go for.

Would have preferred Howe, but I'm fairly happy with this. Tuchel won't be afraid to drop those who don't perform or don't put the effort in.

Whilst I don't think it will work out, it isnt as if there were many other choices, especially as we seemingly only wanted to hand out an 18 month contract. That rules out the likes of Howe.

If the rumour of Pep signing a 1 year extension is true then his deal will expire as Tuchel's contract ends. One to watch still.
