So, dealt with a horrific situation at work about 2 days back. Old lady, mid seventies decided to wander into one of the buildings we watch over and kill herself. Slit her own throat in a locked room. Don't think that's a sight I will forget for a while, but it does make you wander, what the hell happened for her to make that decision? How does life get to that point.
Terrible situation but too many old people literally have nothing left to look forward to and see no point in dragging it out.
Hard one that mate - Diego has summed it up in a way of my own thinking. Just a horrific way of going about it. She's at peace now, that's the important thing mate, no more pain in mind, body or life, so keep your own mind at ease in that knowledge.
Could be that. Could be a childhood trauma that has stayed with her for decades and just got too much one day or a more recent loss. Just to add a cheerier alternative.
Well I was going to blame Starmer for stealing her winter fuel allowance, but then remembered where Welshie lives.
Normally i like the cooler weather but for some reason even though its unreasonably hot here, i dont mind it (probably all the air con including in houses). I do like the sunshine though, just makes you happier innit
****ing hell. Always wonder what goes wrong to get to that point. Mate is a fireman and just last week he was called to a house where a bloke had hung himself from the bannister at the top of the stairs, they had to put him in a bag before cutting/lowering him down, he said he was dripping
The one Welshie saw, seems to be a very extreme measure, so I wonder if she was mentally unstable....rather than just unwell.
Yeah when the police arrived we all agreed that this was a bit more extreme than usual. It was one of my guys who found her, I as his boss arrived to support, so he got the brunt of it. Anyway, life goes on, for us anyway
Sympathies fella ... got a cousin who's a firefighter (must have done 25 years now) and has had to deal with a lot of pretty dark stuff ... not all about breaking into burning buildings to rescue beautiful damsels ... Car fires, where the occupants haven't managed to get out are horrific, but they also get (jointly) called out to many 'domestic' situations ... many very old people die whilst on the ****ter ... will leave it there ... but once again ... my sympathies.
