Israel needed to react to the events of 7th October 2023, - no argument At that point Israel had the sympathy, empathy and support of most of the world ... including those aware of both the history of the region and the current situation in the West Bank ... If Israel had simply retaliated with a program of taking out Hamas, Hezbollah, Houti and even Iranian leadership (which they've now done with impunity - and obvious pre-planning) together with obvious Hamas military targets and fighters - by invasion of Gaza and including the systematic destruction or concreting of tunnels then, arguably, they would have achieved the same impact / given the same lessons to their enemies as they have now ... but without the civilian carnage and with a much better chance of successful hostage negotiations... and the likely creation of even more numerous future militant Gazan / Palestinian militia / fanatics .. But Netanyahu wanted much more ... the Gaza campaign has been about annihilation (of Gaza as a sovereign / recognisable Palestinian territory) ... I doubt very much that this Israeli regime's view of a 'future Gaza' is anywhere close to what the UN is thinking ... Purile mugs like Welshie would much rather accuse the UN of anti-Israel bias than condemn Israel's draconian actions and disregard for civilian life ... as evidenced by this mornings post exchanges ...
22 people including women and children, killed in central Beirut last night after attacks with no warning came. The attacks came at 8pm when Israel knew that families would be at home and children would be being put to bed. IDF claiming they were targeting a hezbollah tea maker or something, but he wasn’t even in the area. They can take out a single room in a building when they want, but chose to bomb families in their homes. Sick ****s
The Nobel Peace Prize has been won by Nihon Hidankyo. Triffic lad, made a real difference to the Portsmouth team under Redknapp.
One could of course think both things are true (not me obviously, up the IDF). There’s not a method of attacking that hasn’t led to crocodile tears. Taking out a terrorist leader alone in Iran sparked mass wailing. Engaging in war outside of the pre-agreed 9-5 war hours does similar. There was no reaction that would have genuinely had sympathy. People were rushing to condemn Israel before they’d done anything and have had a bone to pick with every plausible tactic used.
Looks like I’ve missed a lot of fun in here this morning with my anti-Semite buddies and that even worse buddy who disgustingly changes his football allegiances. Merry weekend guys, have a good one
BBC and University of America in Beirut now reporting that Israel are attacking medical staff and hospitals in Beirut.
It isn't the first time IDF have fired at UNIFIL bases during their "incursions" into Lebanon normal method seems to be to take out viewing cameras and keep UNIFIL staff indoors .
They’ve attacked another UN peacekeeping station today https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/...in-target-un-peacekeepers-in-southern-lebanon

ITV 6 o'clock news - extremely hard watch -heartbreaking - Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in Northern Gaza - red crescent ambulances arriving at hospital - teenage boy aged maybe 14 or 15 jumps out carrying his younger brother - he's crying and cursing Hamas for bringing this on them - another ambulance arrives and the injured man on the trolley is the boy's father - badly injured but will probably make it - cameras then switch to the hospital where the boy is now cradling his brother's confirmed dead body - he begs over and over to be buried with his brother because he promised him he wouldn't leave him ... Israel's 'right to defend' itself is sure being stretched ... Human tragedy off the scale ...
