Apologies if already posted nice piece about Connolly / Rosenior in the YP https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...eKamPC69MLubvbxK67ulhdtyHPVP21Is0vaGbU9FR9_1c
Wow! I didn’t realise it was this bad - fair play to him for trying to sort it out. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...illing-me-my-life-was-so-unmanageable-4819676
City did a good job of keeping this under wraps really. There were some rumours but in general City fans didn't know at all what was going on with him. It's good that he's identified he's got or had a problem, but it's a common thing with players who have these issues that they have several epiphanies over the years where they say they're over it and then it keeps happening. Hopefully he really has beaten it.
It's confirming what we kinda knew, but credit to the club for keeping the specifics under wraps. Even in an Acun Q&A.
I guess that is the nature of alcoholism, not just in sport - just one drink, and then it all goes belly-up again. It must be particularly difficult if you’re away from home and family.
So much for those saying his latest problem was from Gunn wiping him out. It was obvious it wasn't. It was clear he had deep rooted issues affecting him. At least now we know. He's lucky to have got a third (fourth?) chance to turn it around. Good luck to him if he really is committed to sorting himself out; if not, such a waste as he's a talented player.
Can’t be true. I was told on here the rumours of his drink and drug issues were bollocks because I didn’t see it myself. It’s been an open secret for a while now that he’s got a problem with drinking and also cocaine. Glad he checked into an addiction clinic because the first step is admitting you have a problem.
I don’t want a certificate. Just saying his benders were an open secret and people on here played it off as unsubstantiated rumours and that his absences were purely football-related injuries like the broken toe and Gunn clattering him.
When he was at the kc for the millwall game He looked like hed lost 15 pounds He looked like a heavy drinker prior
You can find examples in the Moderation Bar and Divas Bar at King Edward on Anlaby Road. Some fine specimens in there .
I always felt City put him on the bench when they had no intent of playing him, just to keep him out of trouble. Some games we needed him to come on, but clearly he was not up to it. I hope it works out for him at Sunderland, but only after we play them.
Why can't it be both? Or did he somehow score 8 goals in half a season despite his problems and then randomly struggle to get in the side in the second half for no new reason? Clearly the collision with Gunn exacerbated his issues.
