At first sight I thought messliers mess up in goal at sunderland was just a goalkeepers mistake now I'm not so sure.
Let's put it this way if you were in goals all the match and had been making saves all over that goal area in the 2nd half ,wouldn't you notice a big dent in the ground where supposedly there was one where the ball bounced supposedly to his right instead of to his left with the spin of the ball and the big dent in the ground, but as I say if you had of been making saves all the 2nd half of that match all over the area and it came to the last minute and the ball could of been easily caught before it hit the ground knowing that it could land awkwardly in the dent wouldn't you rather catch the ball before it hit the ground ?
This question has been swirling around the back of my mind ever since the match , so there is a doubt in my mind whether it was a goalkeepers error or something nasty has occurred, what's your thoughts on it ?

    Good afternoon
Yes a huge slice of bad luck that it hit a divot or whatever it was, that changed it's trajectory, but also very poor goalkeeping judgement, but i would hazard a guess that any other keeper in the division would have saved it, but on purpose NEVER, Unfortunatly we do have a keeper who is very prone to blunders, which we have not seen the back of yet, but nothing hopefully on that scale, I feel for Meslier for he is just not a very good goal keeper, but that's not his fault, and if we had better, the poor lad wouldn't be taken the abuse that he is, i blame the people who do the recruiting, as never mind outfield players, we need a decent keeper and have needed for years, but sadly a fact we keep ignoring, and until then promotion is highly unlikely.

But do you think messlier had seen the divet before the ball went into it , and that's if there was a divet ? Firpo was certainly angry and stormed off and also reports are that messlier will be Dropped , is that because of the blunder or is it because they know something we don't ?

Okay, not that I really want to bite, I’ll take the mini bait. One, I haven’t seen any reports suggesting he will be dropped. Two, for what reason do you have for thinking that he would have done this on purpose?

seriously how can you even have any consideration it was on purpose? yes it was a howler but no way on earth it was let in. Firpo went off frustrated because he probably felt as bad as most of us fans did frustrated with the timing of the goal and how it went in.. Players are human they react in different ways. as on the laughing at the end with his old coach yes there is probably a time and place to do that ie away from the camera's but the laugh to me has been taken out of context there is noway he was laughing at letting the goal in the lad probably was in shock and laughing at how unbelievable he thought it was or something said with a nervous laugh.. I heard from a Farke interview Mes was close to tears in the dressing room. its shyte I wanted the ground to swallow me up when i watched it go in and yes I personally had a go at him myself but it has to be swept under the carpet and we have to move on can't go on dwelling on about if's, But's, Maybe's. Its a massive Goalkeeping blunder nothing more to it. yes he has to be man enough to hold his hands up but we as a fan base have to protect him now and get behind him. he plays for our Club our Team he's part of our highs on a weekend there is no point going for his jugular with conspiracy's of this or that. Nothing can be changed its on to the next game and hopefully he can make amends with some good goalkeeping and contribution to the game as going against him is going against the team in my eyes hurting him hurts the morale changes the atmosphere we got a fukin Yorkshire derby to win lets go and do it.

Wise men, when in doubt whether to speak or to keep quiet, give themselves the benefit of the doubt, and remain silent.

better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

not sure what it has to do with this thread though. Good to see sniffer back and flourishing. Olof has obviously remembered his password.

When meslier is up for 30 counts of match fixing I hope you’ll all be back here apologising to the sniffmeister.

Seems more plausible than ‘it spun a bit’ or ‘hit a divot’ - like that doesn’t happen every match <cheers>

Personally I suspect leprechauns or little people. They’re likely to spring up anywhere. Many of them have been rumoured to attend footie games you know. One of them could have popped up and headed that in. I suspect sniffy has seen such little people at many stages in his life
