Probably not all of them. Gutierres certainly and those they had the good grace to sack for being terrorists most likely. I’m sure one or two aren’t.
Must all be lies about the IDF deliberately murdering and torturing Doctors and Medical staff then. Probs why they attacked UN peacekeepers earlier.
They haven’t been keeping much peace. Lots of ‘the UN says’. Not a lot of anyone noticing when one of those doctors was running a B&B for hostages. Like with most things in this war it would be naive to judge anything by our standards but people will anyway.
They haven't been able to keep any peace as Israel seem intent on there being none. Israel has carried out a concerted effort to destroy Gaza’s health-care system, including by deliberately killing medical staff in the war zone. The Israeli military has “deliberately killed, wounded, arrested, detained, mistreated and tortured” health-care personnel and has targeted medical vehicles and facilities amid its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, a UN-backed commission said in a report out Thursday. Those violations constitute war crimes. The commission also found that the Israel Defense Forces deliberately targeted pediatric and neonatal facilities, which has led to “incalculable suffering” especially among women and small children. Those actions could lead to the “the destruction of generations of Palestinian children and, potentially, the Palestinian people as a group,” Probs just all made up and was just a front for a b&b hiding hostages.
This Commission is directly under the same HRC I just poured scorn on. You cannot expect me to take anything the HRC comes out with seriously, when the majority of its 47 member states are countries with atrocious Human Rights records. It's like watching Leicester's title win being accused of cheating by a Chelsea fan. I literally couldn't give a toss about anything these muppets have to say. Obscene waste of public funds.
This I'll take more seriously. I hope whatever happened was a genuine mistake. Will investigate further.
I pour scorn on your scorn Like I said, convenient that you dismiss the UN when they highlight Israel's atrocities. Do you seriously think that the UN report on Israel deliberately targeting doctors, medical staff, aid workers, hospitals, ambulances, first responders, children's units is made up ?
The Unifil statement made it clear that the peacekeepers thought the attacks on their positions were no accident, suggesting there had been premeditation. “An IDF drone was observed flying inside the UN position up to the bunker entrance,” it said. “Yesterday, IDF soldiers deliberately fired at and disabled the position’s perimeter-monitoring cameras.” Unifil also said Israeli forces had “deliberately fired” on a UN facility at a border point on the coast where peacekeepers hosted tripartite meetings with Israeli and Lebanese officers before the outbreak of the current conflict. Unifil said any deliberate attack on peacekeepers was a “grave violation of international humanitarian law” and of security council resolution 1701.
Good. There won’t be until the job is done. A job that wouldn’t be required if the UN had been doing its job.
Yeah it's the UN's fault that Israel have been deliberately targeting paediatric and neonatal units. Probs sheltering hostages there or summink....
What part of this can you not take seriously ? The Israeli military has “deliberately killed, wounded, arrested, detained, mistreated and tortured” health-care personnel and has targeted medical vehicles and facilities amid its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Those violations constitute war crimes. Israel Defense Forces deliberately targeted pediatric and neonatal facilities, which has led to “incalculable suffering” especially among women and small children. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/busines...erately-killed-doctors-in-gaza-un-panel-says/
I don't dismiss the UN in its entirety. I dismiss specific bodies within the UN. UNWRA and the HRC are top of that list, by a mile. Do me a favour, read the list of HRC's member states. I'll pop in the car and come down to Cornwall. Then you can look me in the eye and, without laughing, explain to me why I should listen to the opinions of Qatar, Algeria, Benin, Burundi, Eritrea, Gambia, Malawi, Somalia, Sudan, China, Indonesia, Albania, Cuba, Montenegro and Honduras on the topic of upholding human rights. I doubt it'll be long conversation, so as it's a bit of a drive maybe get the spare bedroom ready and we'll go surfing tomorrow. Make the trip worthwhile.
Specifically, what part of this UN report that highlights; The Israeli military has “deliberately killed, wounded, arrested, detained, mistreated and tortured” health-care personnel and has targeted medical vehicles and facilities amid its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Those violations constitute war crimes. Israel Defense Forces deliberately targeted pediatric and neonatal facilities, which has led to “incalculable suffering” especially among women and small children. Do you not take seriously ?
The part where I don't believe any commission's "findings" when it is under the auspices of the HRC. I've explained why at length above. I am absolutely in favour of a full and impartial independent inquiry, but not under the auspices of that rabble of hypocrites. The image of Sudan lecturing Israel on human rights would be funny, if it wasn't so sad.
It wouldn’t be the first time. Whatever ****s I gave a year or so ago I haven’t given for several months. Flatten the lot if they fancy because not many would genuinely care if it was the other way around.
So it's all made up then The UN are lying about it ? Israel haven't been targeting doctors, medical staff, hospitals, ambulances, first responders, children's units, aid workers. Is that really what you're trying to claim here ?
It's not true that people wouldn't care if it was the other way around, and it's a **** excuse for not giving a **** yourself.
It's remarkable that people can be totally ok with the fact that the majority of member states on the Human Rights Council have despicable human rights records. When it comes to the HRC, the lunatics took over the asylum decades ago. I attended a major conference in the Manhattan HQ in 2019 with an NGO that was pushing for reform to this and a number of other UN bodies. Sadly despite months of careful planning we were unsuccessful, and to pour salt on our wounds the next year Russia, Pakistan and Bolivia were elected.
