The coming storm in Florida, is the media and the experts creating panic instead of helpful advice? "Stay and you will die" a meteorologist breaking down in tears on the news because the pressure has dropped x amount of millibars, a tidal wave of 15ft coming shown on a cgi generated image behind the news presenter. Now some of those who fled a potentially safe place find themselves in a car out on the open road short of fuel and supplies.
It's a once in a 100 year storm from I've read so it seems sensible to take precautions and evacuate if that's what the meteorologists are recommending. On the flip side I heard an evangelical Christian telling a reporter she was staying put as god would protect her. I guess each person gets to choose who they trust for advice in these circumstances.
There's a one-legged bloke in a boat in the harbour that's refusing to move, saying god will protect him. I'm expecting him to be on the RIP thread later.
I read that in the style of one of those stories where the next person has to add the next bit... There's a one-legged bloke There's a one-legged bloke in a boat There's a one-legged bloke in a boat in the harbour There's a one-legged bloke in a boat in the harbour that's refusing to move There's a one-legged bloke in a boat in the harbour that's refusing to move, saying god will protect him. There's a one-legged bloke in a boat in the harbour that's refusing to move, saying god will protect him, as the wind grows stronger...
Scientists have said one day it may be possible to live on Mars. My mate tried that once. He put on 3 stone and got type 2 diabetes!…
Blackjacks please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Four for a penny, Blackjacks were little chewy sweets wrapped in greaseproof black and white paper wrappings and a favourite for the old mixed-bag selection. More like a chalk grey than jet black, too many of them would turn the inside of your mouth and tongue a nasty black colour, much to the dismay of many mums. Because of this, it wasn't a good sweet to sneakily eat at playtimes. Blackjacks often used to be mixed with 'Fruit Salad', a chew sweet or around the same size with a distinct favour and bright yellow and red wrappers.
There is a shop near me opened up selling blackjacks, fruit salads, liquorice torpedoes and other stuff from that era. Nostalgia ain’t cheap though.
As I found to my cost when I nipped down to Glickmans,London Road,Glasgow for a quarter of cough candy twist...
