Yeah, it's probably too late in the day to be acquiring a marquee domestic signing for next year - that I suspect will wait until 2026 - but an overseas player, particularly for the Blast, is presumably high on their list for 2025. But if not, I'd be fine with getting McDermott back again. (Alongside Ellis, who will hopefully be returning regardless.)
I heard Rod say that it's possible we'll be playing in an overseas competition later this year (likely November), presumably a t20 competition.
Daws named PCA men's player of the year. He was also PCA men's domestic Overall Most Valuable Player (MVP), County Championship Player of the Year and captain of the PCA men's Team of the Year, Thoroughly deserved. Yet can't get a look in for England. Ridiculous.
Did he go to the wrong school? Or is it just because he plays for lowly Hampshire, not one of the powerhouse counties, like Yorkshire or Middlesex? Cynical? Moi?
I think England have made it clear they pick on "attributes" rather than performances. But which format should he be in the England team for? I don't think he should normally be in the test side, although he'd be a decent option in a squad going to the sub-continent, and don't really pay much attention to the shorter formats any more, but they'll be building to the next ODI world cup which is years away, so he's too old for that team.

Joe Root is now England's all time highest run scorer in Test cricket. ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Pakistan may well regret their mini collapse from 261-1 to 464-8. That doesn't sound like a collapse but a period of 203-7 on this pitch isn't great. England could well make 750-800 in their first innings.
Root has literally batted all day and you can tell! He looks absolutely shattered! A testiment to the man and batter that he is that he didn't give his wicket away through fatigue.
