Was just wondering - Sunderland AFC have insisted that no deal has been done as yet with MoN!!

Keep us posted - where is Big_Chris when you need him

Just said on another thread - took a phonecall from my very reliable ITK who confirmed MON is definitely the manager and there will be a press conference later today.

Cest's "member" seems to be ITK based on it's reaction, not sure how reliable it is though ;)

Don't bust a gut over this, the details will drag this over the weekend. Tuesday is my bet for a press conference.

I have been assured there will be a press conference today - only loose ends being tied up.

Is Coxhoe still the quiet place where a policeman was murdered in 1940 or is it still jogging along?

Hourly updates from SSN camped at the AOL, Eric Black in charge for the Wolves game, talks between ES & MON yesterday very productive, more talks today, SAFC confident of announcing MON as new manager later this weekend

All I do know (and there have been no new txts since tea time last night) that both parties HAVE agreed a deal and that all there is now is the backroom staff and all the other stuff to sort out.

Short has targeted his man from day one and there was no way he was going ot be thwarted. O Neill was uo for this from day one and the negotiations have been excellent form day one.

Bizarrely, apparently according to one BBC source, Mr Lerner was contacted by his friend Mr Short and was given a glowing reference. It would seem that dummies were not spat out at all but rather a professional difference caused Villa and MoN to part company but didnt effect their personal relationship at all.

Like I said, MoN is a very, very classy individual.

Cheers Cest - keep us all posted

SSN at the AoL is probably pointless - Ellis Short lives in London and I would think that discussions are happening away from the ground and Academy to ensure that press are not intruding on the talks?? No idea really!!

I'm slowly coming around to the MoN thing but there is still a little voice in my head telling me about what he did at Villa and how that could happen here!!!

Let's just hope he's more successful than the last North East supporter who managed the club he followed as a boy eh?

At 59 where would he actually go if he did walk away for some reason? He hasn't walked out on any other club in his past (Norwich didnt count because they ****ed around with his contract so he got another job as me or you would do) so why worry about something that wont happen.

Sunderland is as big an opportunity for MoN as he is for us mate. This is his last big hurrah as well and a chance to stake his place amongst management elite. That he will be doing that for us is incredible.

I remember back in the 1974/75 seasons there was a get Clough campaign (led by 2 blokes from Chester le street actually) who I have known for 30 years and my old man for 40 years. They ultimatley failed becasue our board at the time **** themselves. i think O Neill is our latter day Cloughie moment only this time, we have a board as desperate as we are for this to be the right choice.

I am genuinely as excited today as I ever have been since my first game back in the mid 70's.

I hope and pray that I am not ultimately disappointed but in all honesty, I dont think I will be.
