You do know that in 2011 the UN told us we had no right to be there, it wasn’t our sovereign land and we had to give it back. We only ignored that because we have a shared military base with the US on one of the islands and they told us to ignore it. However, we started negotiations in 2019 (under the Tory government) to hand back the islands but keep our presence on the one with the military base. There were at least 13 rounds of negotiations, which were all conducted by the Tory’s, including the payment terms for inhabiting the island with the military base. Not quite the story of Labour incompetence you would have us believe.
