How about Lambert from Southampton ? then again he was poor on tuesday. Sharp - Maynard and now Cole. Perfect. That will blow the Jan transfer kitty <whistle>

Why do you always insist on naming £5m+ players as potential signings?

We're not going to sign any players at that sort of level.

ffs, lighten up. more chance than Carlton Cole may i add. as for 5 millilon ? we can get sharp and maynard for that.

furthermore, as sunderland and lesta show Spending Big Money is No Guarantee at all.

Mine was obviously a joke, as I picked the least likely striker in the entire league.

Burnley have already turned down £4.5m for Rodriguez, Brizzle turned down £7m for Maynard(it will be lower now due to his contract situation, but it will still be millions), Lambert's the leagues top scorer and will also be millions, as will Sharp.

so was mine. Regardless of where he goes in Jan (and if he goes for that matter) it will be interesting to see what Brizzle get(lucky if its 2 million in jan) for Maynard ?

for what its worth i expect a PL struggler to go for Rodriquez, maybe someone like Bolton who will have the Gary Cahill money to spend. Lambert wont leave Saints i know that. But Billy Sharp is within Papa Allams purse strings.
As for Carlton Cole ? dont rule out a move to say Fulham in Jan.

Billy Sharp is a £3.25m player, I don't think we have any intention of paying that much for a single player.

I also think you're wrong about Maynard, if the rumours about DQPR and Saints both bidding for him are correct, then he could easily still go for £5m.

No chance of that amount in Jan for Maynard. Not when he is Free next summer.

    It depends on the demand.

Junior Hoilett is out of contract in the summer, but he's expected to be sold in January for over £9m.

As far as a stiker is concerned, I think the options are either look to the lower divisions for an up and coming talent, or a loan to the end of the season from a Premier league club. I can't see the Allams shelling out 3-5 Million for a striker at this stage, so maybe the latter will be preferred, to see how this season develops.

I agree with the 2nd option, we have 'decent' strikers but we need something a wee bit spesh and the obvious route for that is from the prem. Up for discussion but if we have a sniff of the playoffs I'd rather see us spend £30-40k pw on some quality for 4 months than half a mill on an up and coming or average championship striker.
January is time for us to see what kind of network he has and what sway NB holds with premier league managers.

    jason roberts
    kevin davies
    peter lovenkrands

not direct suggestions to be shot at but examples of the kind of player who could be lured to the KC for half a season.

wonder what spurs ties NB still has cause I would love to see jake livermore come in and fill that midfield battler gap we still have.

    whatever happens COYH

Gutted about Pusic, he was playing well for us, but what is the full exstent of his injury? Wasnt it his hip?
If were looking for lower lge for a new striker, Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield would be a shout, or as Tickler said, Lambert from SOuthampton, yes he was quiet against us on tuesday, as we marked him out the game, but he is a good player.

to a point i agree with you(in relation to demand). but it now appears that DQPR are looking at Defoe in Jan.

Hoilett has many suitors and thats why the bidding for him will be high like you have suggested. the same applies to gary cahill @ bolton. another who can go for free next summer. its gonna be an interesting january transfer window in the top 2 leagues.

Anyone seen Harry Kane play 4 Spurs? He's apparently one with great potential and would definitely be available on loan you would think!

i like your style lady for sure. BUT....BIG BUT.....Huddersfield do allow Rhodes to leave then a PL club will get him. Saints wont allow Lambert to leave unless again a PL club comes in with a crazy offer they cannot refuse. January is gonna be a very interesting month and not just for Hull City. The sway that NB has in the game will be interesting when it comes to beating off any other clubs. Many a player turns down bigger wages to join a certain club just because of who the manager is. Interesting isn't it. ?
