For all the faults he has made and there are some, for sure, Speakman has done a remarkable job overall.
I wonder if they picked him on the radar at Newcastle Airport. He’s a fair height up there. Now we can call him our Squadron Leader
bench will get stronger in time, and some new lads are yet to play. Hopefully sooner rather than later on both fronts as lots of quality in there: Ballard, Alese, Huggins, Samed, Mayenda, Aleksic, Abdullahi, Poveda
Just for the record the Grandson eventually made it for the last 30mins after a protracted evening meal (hic!) - is already practicing his R foot volley with a fierce concentration and signed off with a vigourous 97th min double fist pump. The sheep white noise has been replaced by a bouncing SOL by his proud dad. He's been around less than a week - now it's not for me to draw parallels here... Many thanks for all the positive responses from one and all - great to share the love - the scarfe is coming along, should be ready for his school debut! DR
I wonder what our 3 unknowns will turn out like. Samed, Aleksic and Abdullah. When will we actually start to see them. Are they all first teamers. Do we have another hidden gem or two in there. About Christmas time we should have some idea. It’s like getting a mini transfer window all on our own when these start to appear. Also, when will Huggins be back, hopefully, like Cirkin, for a longer time than his earlier appearances. FWIW I thought Rodon was Leeds best player. He seemed to stop just about everything from happening with our attack (although Browne fooled him with his clever goal)
Burnley v Preston result said that to me, 0-0 and Burnley were really poor and Preston were so unlucky not to win it, even had a perfectly good goal wrongly ruled out by offside decision.
It’s nice to go into the international break top of the league. Never in a million years saw it coming. Still think coming 6th will be a brilliant achievement for us this season considering expectations. Whats nice is fans of other clubs on twitter telling us we’re **** and will finish 6th, as if 6th would be a bad season for us. Considering many of us saw bottom half and even a fight against relegation as an actual possibility, it’s a great sign of our progress that other fans think they’re “one upping” us by telling us we’ll just finish in the playoffs. My latest thinking is that realistically we’ll finish 5-10th. Anything in that window and I’d like to see us keep RLB and go into an unprecedented second season with the same manager (is that even allowed?)
I've just watched the ITV EFL highlights show. In our match, in a couple of minutes of highlights they chose to show (instead of any the chances for either team) our fans leaving the ground early and the commentators criticising it. I didn't love the fact it happened but what sort of editing sees that included - must be some agenda there.
I'd be disappointed if we don't finish top 6. I know it's only 8 games, but we've shown we have the quality to compete with the top teams despite a lengthy injury list. A lot can happen between now and the end of the season of course - this time last year we had 16 points from 9 games and we all know what happened next...
