In that area the earliest artifacts I've found are medieval but I've only just started there. Found some Roman coins over towards Market Harborough. Presumably you know that The Fosse Way is a Roman road? Any place with chester, cester, caster, caister in the name was a Roman settlement as it's related to the Latin word for castle.

<laugh> yes mate... hence the Board name ... Leicester City were originally founded as 'Leicester Fosse' ...

St Albans was Verulamium ... another Roman settlement... plus 2 battles in the War of the Roses ...

St Albans is famed for the Roman remains, good museum, been there to register finds before. Got a couple of treasure trove items in the museums at Hertford and Waltham Abbey. Not sure if they are on display or not. Ought to go visit one day.

I've seen them in that area when I was a kid. Loads of them in Normandy, was amazed how many were crawling all over the road after it rained.

Not that it changes the waste of money on failed technology...

“The Financial Times did a Freedom of Information request to the Treasury to ask where this fictitious £22 billion number came (from), the reply they got back form the Treasury was we can’t give you the workings because we’re not sure they’re accurate.
