Werner would probably miss the flight in the first place. I know, I know. I'm making up for lost time.
Have to wonder if we're looking at resting Udogie for Brighton the weekend, so wanted to get Reggie up to speed while we're in Hungary
I don't think that there's any way to tell, as nobody's seen Austin or Whiteman play. The whole situation is a total mess and we need to address it as early as possible. The club's left itself in a ludicrous situation though, so I'm not hopeful.
Austin hasn't played first team football since 2021 Whiteman hasn't played first team football since 2022 It's not hyperbole to say we have youth keepers who have played first team football more recently than they have - but due to them being U21 they can't be registered for the A Squad anyway
It’s more based on Forster’s last two performances, albeit separated by a whole year, they were both extremely poor. The penalty shootout last year vs Fulham he moved slower than an OAP after hip surgery trying to get down for some of them. Then the recent Cov game he was horrific. Austin had played a lot of pre-season, didn’t look any worse than Forster of late plus we gave him a 5 year deal. I don’t want any of the backup keepers playing in Europa until we’ve (hopefully) qualified, if we secure qualification early enough then it would’ve been a perfect time to test Austin’s credentials. It’s why I saw no logic in bringing Forster in over Spence, the latter is needed far more than the former. Forster or Werner should’ve been the ones dropped from the squad but it was obviously never going to be Werner as there’s likely a stipulation in his loan deal. We essentially entered Europa with a weaker squad than what it should’ve been.
Postecoglou on our injuries: https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/ne...s-latest-on-heung-min-son-and-destiny-udogie/ Son and Udogie are still out. Reguilon and youth players travelled to aid in training. Doesn't mention who the youth players are, but Dorrington, Cassanova and Ajeyi are on the plane.
I think this is just further confirmation of what a daft decision it was excluding Spence. I'd imagine the back four will be Gray, Romero, van de Ven and Davies. With Son (and Odobert, apparently he could be out for 6 weeks now according to Paul O'Keefe) still out, we can almost certainly guarantee a start for Werner again too. Let the good times roll.
We should definitely be looking at giving someone some minutes in Johnson's role in this game. Given Kulusevski's move into the midfield, we don't actually have obvious cover in that position. Son, Odobert, Werner and Moore are all primarily left wingers. Something we need to address, for me.
It's like you've almost indirectly added another reason as to why we shouldn't have brought in Werner there . But I'd imagine Johnson will start again, we could see Kulu replace him at HT or on the hour mark though assuming the midfield three that started vs Qarabag are to start again tomorrow. Not that it helps right now but I'd imagine Yang will add some strength to the position in January, assuming we plan on utilising him straight away that is, if we did, someone would then need to be replaced in the squad for him as we're able to change it in January IIRC for the final two league games.
Haven't watched the Postecoglou one, but Maddison's is quite interesting. Lots of Hungarian translations, so skipping bits is essential. The Ronaldo picture he refers to is this one: please log in to view this image It was posted with the title "Brennan Johnson since shutting down social media".
Highlights of Ferencvaros' last league game, including Firmino clone's hat-trick off the bench: It really is uncanny. Two fairly easy chances, but the third is unbelievable. Need to avoid giving him any chances at all.
I could be wrong, but it looked like Ferencvaros having lots of possession and Puskas hitting them on the break and set-pieces. Their style of play has similarities to ours, I think. I wonder if they'll use the same tactics tonight?
That takes me back to Arry 2011-12 (but without the being in PL top 4 contention bit) . Getting the squad rotation going is one thing, but this month is also an opportunity to put reaching the EL KO stage on solid ground.
