I certainly think we are far more open but the trade off now is beginning to work. The wingers are often in such good positions to create and given the quality we had out wide today they both made dangerous moments. I think a few ironing out of the tweaks that Tim references in the pressing and we genuinely could challenge for playoffs. This league is so dramatically open it’s not out of the question but the next 3 games are probably the litmus test of what this team is capable of.
This was part of the frustration with how we started as it looked like we were blowing a big chance in one of the most open Championship seasons. As you say, the next 3 games are now huge to see if we can put ourselves in that conversation.
To our benefit I would expect all 3 to come and have a go. It’s not out the question you end up with 5-7 points
I think first and foremost I am pleased for Acun, he took a bold move to get more entertaining football, and it is start to bear fruit. There is no doubt what we are seeing is much more enjoyable to watch, long may it continue. We have to take our hats off to ''The Pink Pandur'' he kept us in the game and set the platform for the win in that first 10 minutes. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image After that we gradually grew into the game and a great finish by Drameh, (Is he a QPR fan?) as he rather subdued in his celebrations. Nice to see Bedia get his first goal in open play, he works tirelessly and keeps their back line honest. We look so much more threatening with 2 wingers and Millar was the pick on the night, but Belloumi, even though slightly quieter that Saturday, still caused them many a headache. Midfield until Zambrano and Mehlem came on was not great, not bad, but there was a marked improvement when these 2 came on. Zambrano is some player, even if he has a ban, we should buy him and wait for him to see it through. The back for did a good job, both Coyle and Drameh has good games in particular. Well, 3 wins on the bounce, 10 goals scored and up to9th, the future bright, the future looks Black & Amber.
If we can waste this long waiting on Sinik, then surely we can wait just as long for someone who's actually decent.
Good result that - 10 goals in 3 games isn't to be sniffed at either - looks like Acun's got what he wanted!
Oscar is so cool on the ball he seems to have all the time in the world to play the ball and he has already decided who to - he was class when he came on. I like the rotation of players so when a couple tire fresh ones come on especially with the pace we play . Do the players look sharper and fitter or is it the pace fooling me ? ( not hard)
Just out of curiosity, is there anybody out there who still believes that Coyle isn't befitting of a top six side, or indeed, Walter's style of play?
I don’t think it’s bed wetting to have had doubts about Walter’s style and then feel more positively now. We’ve seen three great results that were sorely needed and very entertaining. However, coming back down to Earth, City’s start was so poor that despite three wins in a row we’ve still only managed the points return of a team that would be projected to finish mid-table.
According to Fotmobs ratings system, Lewie Coyle has been the 4th best player in the entire championship this season. Arblaster, Mundle and Mowatt above him)
I still think he could be, remember Shota had that flurry of results seeing us at the top end of the table scoring loads of goals, the warning signs were still there for everyone to see and he was gone by November. He has bought himself some extra time for sure but the complete lack of defence is just crazy, I can’t see trusting to fortune being a sustainable tactic. But we will see. We did play well last night, finally, which is promising.
